Sky7 #2 Posted June 9, 2017 I was just on the Ataribox.com site. Very vague. What is this going to be? Considering there are several Atari flashback devices out there, what is this "Ataribox" going to be?
Wyluli Wolf #3 Posted June 9, 2017 Very curious indeed. Speculation that it might be yet another "mini" console. Nobody knows for sure though. http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2017/06/09/is-atari-about-to-announce-a-new-console/

+pboland #5 Posted June 9, 2017 This could be very cool. I'm not expecting PS4/Xbox One type thing, but it still could be very cool.
atarifan88 #6 Posted June 9, 2017 Maybe something that will play the original cartridges on an HD TV?! That would be cool!
Flojomojo #7 Posted June 9, 2017 I think it should be a woodgrain-looking (actually plastic, of course) voice-controlled box that plays VCS sound samples on demand. "Ataribox, play Pac-Man." OK BONK BONK BONK BONK BONK BOOOOOOP "Ataribox, play Defender." ZAP ZAP ZAP ZAP ZAP DOOODLEDOODOOODLEDOOT
Thomas Jentzsch #8 Posted June 9, 2017 Maybe its just a box?

+-^CrossBow^- #12 Posted June 9, 2017 Maybe a woodgrain looking box that is actually something more like a Steambox playing digital downloaded versions of the classics and possibly new games as well. Looks like there is some sort of ports that you can just make out in that video. Maybe for multiple USB type controllers you plug into something. +-^CrossBow^- #15 Posted June 9, 2017 Now I'm wondering as I just saw the announcement for the 2017 lineup of flashback units. I'm guessing what was teased in that video is the new flashback 8 gold that will feature the largest selection of built in games including some Activision titles and 720p HDMI out? +-^CrossBow^- #16 Posted June 9, 2017 A woodgrain Steam-Box hehe..Great minds and all that?
moycon #17 Posted June 9, 2017 It's an Atari laser disk player so you can play all those awesome laser disk games from the 80's!! Firefox anyone?
+pboland #18 Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) You're getting colder. Well, it's obvious you know what it is and I'm sure you are not allowed to say. If we are to believe the article that was posted above (meaning Atari has been working on this for a couple of years), then it is safe to assume it is not a Steam box. You shouldn't need a couple years to develop that. With that, I'm a little more excited about this now. Edited June 9, 2017 by pboland
+tep392 #19 Posted June 9, 2017 My guess is that this is not something from Atari. I say this because they didn't use the current Fuji design. An official Atari product would use the current design.
AtariLeaf #20 Posted June 9, 2017 Woodgrain is back in style it seems............... https://www.ataribox.com/ I'm getting a "page not found" message I checked another link and watched the "teaser". Interesting. With the atari logo in the new Blade Runner I wonder if they're trying to ramp up brand recognition again among the masses.

This has nothing to do with AtGames. This is Atari in partnership with another company. It's not related to any vintage technology. That's all I can say. Chuck D. Head #25 Posted June 9, 2017 Teaseriest teaser ever. They did sucker me into giving them my email address for updates, which I am sure I will regret.
