+Nathan Strum
Nobody is really laughing, we are sad to see what "Atari" has turned into. I stopped being sad years ago. I'm done mourning Atari. They aren't worth the effort. I still enjoy what I enjoyed about Atari back-in-the-day: the games. Whatever happens to the shuffling zombie corpse of "Atari" can never change that. It's too bad what they've become, but it's not worth being sad over. Not when the last remnants of anything resembling the company died over 20 years ago. We all want to see atari rise from the ashes and return to life as a going concern. I can't see this happening. I think that when the Ataribox fails, Fred will pack it in, and sell off the rest of the IPs piecemeal. That will kill Atari once and for all. And I think the Ataribox will fail. The best case scenario: Atari's garage gang somehow manages to get their eBay proto board working. They get someone in China to manufacture the thing, and stuff it fit in a cheap, crappy case that vaguely resembles their non-functional mockup. They get someone to port Atari Flashback Classics™ to it, and Llamasoft manages to recompile Tempest 4000 to run on it. They run off just enough to fulfill their Indiegogo orders, and attempt to shop it around to pretty-much everyone, in an attempt to get someone to license this thing and bring it to market. They fail. Nobody is going to want to try to build and sell a $300 Flashback. Nobody. There's zero market for this. People who want a cheap Linux box can build or buy a cheap Linux box. Just Google "cheap linux box under $300". People who want a game console can buy a game console. Several, in fact. People who want a home media entertainment streaming thing can buy those. People who want to play old Atari games can buy a Flashback, or the Flashback Classics compliations, or just run 'em in an emulator. On their cheap Linux box. Or console. Or smart phone. That's best case, and overly-optimistic at that. I think the Ataribox will go the way of the Gameband. After that, unless Fred is making enough money off casinos and T-shirts to justify hanging onto Atari, I think he'll dump it. Auction off the logo, the IPs, and scrape every last bit of money out of it that he can. Then Atari will be scattered to the winds. +Spriggy
Well, that's me trying to be the not-sarcastic, constructive guy. But I already know that mindset doesn't jive with the rest of the world. Lol. Touche. Just pointing out the more recent increased call-out comments. Sarcastically of course! I wasn't really going to say anything here, because it's off-topic and I felt like I was self-advertising, etc. etc. I dunno. xD But the game is called Ballzerk. +Spriggy
Looking for "Atari" (formally known as Infogrames) in Paris isn't as easy as finding their logo slapped on their front door. In fact, the only evidence of an entrance (if you call it that) is a door/window next to a post office. atari_paris.jpg Originally thought it was the post office entrance but actually, it's the discreet entryway with a "78" above it.

+GoldLeader
Since there's no commercials on HBO, I was waiting for someone to make a "product placement" in Game Of Thrones post... Maybe Daenerys Targaryen riding a dragon with an Ataribox in one hand, a taco in the other... I'd do it but I'm not that good at Mario Paint...
