There was an update to the Rob Wyatt lawsuit. If I got it right Atari basically no showed. Which doesn't help Atari's case.

Looks like it, here's the log but I can't see any of the actual documents:

For anyone curious as to what the "Motion for Entry of Default" means, here's a link. Looks like here's one that Atari's going to lose. I'm sure they'll tout that in their next investor meeting!

I am not an expert in Law, but if there is a no-show, does that mean that Judge Dred makes a default entry in favor of the plaintif Tin Giant (Rob Wyatt?)
Or perhaps Atari is going to play the "We weres tricken with the Plague symptoms and had to self isolate so we could not attend and have to delay"

This will end up as a default judgement for Rob unless there are other terms that have been prearranged prior to the hearing. Claiming you didn't show cause you covid bring yourself to come to court won't work.

So, will they use a verdict against them as an excuse to delay the VCS further?

I really wish IGG would simply shut it down and put backers out of their misery.

the New ATARI are ATAssoles!

Why use the verdict? They have Covid as their out. They said they, 'flipped the switch' so in VCS land this is a BIG step. Maybe next it can be that the different face plates take longer to stick on the front or something silly like that?

Why would you wish for all of the backers to lose their investment? Atari has been super slow and disappointing in this process, but they have never said they are not fulfilling the pledges. If IGG shuts the project down as you wish, Atari keeps the money and backers be guaranteed to get nothing... That would hardly be a good solution. I get that everyone on this thread, including myself, are super upset about how the new Atari has proceeded, but I certainly don't wish for the backers to lose all their money.

I don't want backers to get ripped off, but I'm not understanding your point about Atari.  We should have faith they will release the 'Box... because they haven't said they wouldn't?

That's where we're setting that bar now?  We can trust Atari because they haven't told us we can't?

I’d love to proved wrong, but I believe they have used backers funds as seed money to pay wages (remembering they didn’t pay Tin Giant) and startup all their other ridiculous projects ... all in the hope that they will be able to chase enough $s to bring it all together ... a lot of their delaying is exactly that ... hoping they can talk shit long enough to fund the 10,000 units ... I don’t believe they have the funds to do it all in one go, hence the freebie units to potential investors etc.  All IMHO of course.

That seems like a pretty likely scenario. It's hard to tell what's going on in their minds, but it seems like releasing a low tech video game console would be a lot simpler than introducing a new cryptocurrency, or any of their other wacky ventures.   Something's clearly wrong here, but most of us figured that out a few years ago.   But hey, if Atari hasn't said they've scamming us, I guess it's all good.

Do I wish it? No.

Would I care if they did? Also no.

The penalty for unwise investments is almost always loss of money. This whole project was absolutely buried in red flags since its initial announcement. If people chose to ignore them because they couldn't see past a defunct brand name, I won't shed a single tear when their money vanishes.

I don't think many want to see the backers not get anything. I do think if they aren't going to get anything they shouldn't be strung along.

They will most likely get a nice looking box to put under the TV that will be great for emulation and running some lower end games from Steam or something similar. It is nice to see they got away from calling it an unconsole and have referd to it as a PC/console hybrid.

Everyone was warned about shysters from the Cleco Chameleon debacle prior, you did not need a "Nosulus Rift" to smell the brown all over this online campaign.

These guys are insanely slow at bringing this turd to market, Apple is going to release a pair of glasses that projects your phone, meanwhile Atari cant even get a freaking mini-PC to market. None of this has anything to do with quality, it has everything to do with "we blew the money on Hookers, Booze and Casinos so now we need to get investors to pay for the production of the promised units.

(Allegedly)

^^ You dont NEED to actually have the Ataribox, just be part of something. The money was never for an actual item, but the piece of mind that you are part of something, even if it means getting hosed by a bunch of con-artists (Allegedly)

Remember that "Fyre Festival" debacle? as long as you were part of the group of young Douchebags the festival was with you! even if you had to room in tent sold at IKEA and take a dump in a porta potty (luxury)

The tale of "The Emperor's New Clothes", kinda rings a bell here, i just can't seem to put it into context :D

speaking of bells, I could sure go for a Taco right about now... but all I have is peperoni... hmm I think I may be on to something, Pizza Taco!
wait what was I talking about? oh yea Atari Bento Box.. DANG NAMIT I need food.
