This is curious,

I have been locked out of commenting on IGG again, so I lodged a complaint. Here is their response:

Atari it seems is a very slow learner.

They already got their hand slapped on Reddit for doing this exact same thing; muting and deleting anyone who dared to speak of the Atari Box with anything less then fanatical praise, leading to the rather hilarious situation where Atari was stripped of mod status in their own Reddit for abusing it.

It would be nice if Indiegogo rapped Atari's knuckles as well, but I really cannot see Atari caring much. They already have the backers money, so anything Indiegogo does at this point is likely going to be met with little more then a shrug by Atari.

Update #28 is pretty underwhelming. Five weeks since update #27, and the update is essentially Atari announcing they are finally getting around to assembling the parts they have been sitting on for the last month and some. Oh, and a reminder that no backers are getting a unit from this batch.

"These important Atari VCS Onyx systems are mainly earmarked for additional content developers, merchant and distributor samples and other critical business uses such as standard reliability testing, in advance of the full 10,000 unit run"

One year, four months behind schedule and still no word from Atari when backer units will be produced and shipped. I am not surprised a few of the Atari Box backers are getting a little irate.

I honestly find this one of the more interesting developments of the IGG campaign. I imagine that multiple people have filed complaints to IGG's staff against the VCS crowdfunding page, and while they were initially written off because most of them were asking for refunds, once they start receiving complaints of every kind (and the project has been delayed countless times with no solid signs of delivery) it gives reason for concern.

The censorship of backers is probably one thing that gives the site pause because it's what starts bringing the validity of the project into question if the project runners are acting as if they have something to hide. I don't know how much of an impact IndieGoGo's investigation will have, but if they find fault with it for any reason it'll truly be make or break for the TacoBox.

I could easily see this turn into a ZX Vega+ situation all over again, and if that occurs we could see a lot more information of what's been happening behind the scenes at Atari go public and fast.

Everytime I use the term Un-console on the IGG page they delete my comment super quick.

I wonder what would happen to your posts if you typed in null-console or empty set-console.

Mr. Wiener must have a bone to pick to those calling the Atacobox a "console" besides calling it vaporware.

He's quite un-consolable.

Isn't this the third time they've claimed the initial 500 developer units are in production?

I think so. If not three, then definitely the second time. Although you'll notice in this update that they massaged the language to include production prototypes (that will likely be thrown out), units for distributors & marketing, etc. Given that they've only revealed pre-existing Atari partners and Antstream (something like 10 subsidaries/devs), I'd comfortably wager that 90% of that 500 is going towards the non-devs.

Bonus: I've lost track of all the times that Atari or someone related to them has used the term or claim that  "Atari is back":

Atari CEO Bruno Bonnell used the phrase back in 2001 after Infogrames had bought Atari

Media used this term back in 2014 when the whole Chesnais strategy was laid out

Then most everyone used the term back in July 2017 when the Tacobox was unveiled

Media used it again in 2018 talking about Atari's profitability

Atari themselves did a blog post about it when one of their former management guys wrote up a puff piece about the company, but I can't find it now. It was before the Vaporbox had been announced...must've been scrubbed

Then Atari doing it again as they market the VCS...using their old arcade games to promote it with weird videos (and the MegaShill poster got the game wrong as he kept spamming an FB group with the ads, it was Centipede being shown)

I tried null-console and the high-school intern deleted it.

humorously, Don’s Un-Console has now been tolerated ... there is definitely an issue with consistency in moderation... I think it comes down to the Intern’s own bias LOL

P.S. Atari could easily meet their obligations if thrown off IGG.  They have moved order fulfillment to BackerKit and their updates all appear elsewhere before appearing on IGG ... TBH they have been ignoring backers via IGG for a long time and only doing the bare minimum to comply with Kickstarters Rules.

it may be part if the next round of delays - being kicked off IGG and blaming “ the haters”

Who me? I’m resigned to getting a doorstop of useless tech by the time we get it ... that’s why I’ve decided to get my jollies out of poking them on a routine basis.

I can't wait to sell mine on Ebay.

Thinking the same ... the way ATARI operates I am pretty sure I want nothing to do with them long term.  I actually think we are going to see a scandal of DeLorean proportions out of their crypto coin and casino

I might be a potential buyer when they get to eBay.

You'd have to wait for the price to drop below $50 though.

Oh how nice, when Nintendo cannot get the consoles into the hands of gamers they blame the Scalpers and re-sellers,
When Atari cannot get the console into the hands of backers they blame the Devs... they hoarded all teh cOnSolEz

Damn, I'm not the only French that got interviewed in English to talk about a controversial upcoming system! 😕

I still have my hair, though.

The upside is, Biff would do it for free.

The downside is, Atari would have to take a backseat to Biff's Illuminati and lizard people segments.
