New Atari Console that Ataribox?

Recommended Posts

if we're taking bets, i'm gonna guess fixed funding with a medium sized goal that's still far too low for making a console (100k-250k), but they'll put their own money in to force it to the goal and artificially inflate the appearance of interest. kind of a soft flex funding.

We have just heard of a fresh video posted to the Atari VCS Facebook page, thanks to the helpful new Informational Thread®patent pending

It's almost as if they're close to cloning several of the launch features from the Playstation 4, but without the pesky baggage of a software or multiplayer ecosystem. We've come such a long way since that silly little system from 2013.

Are you saying you worked/work for Atari SA, or is that about your stock investment?

Also, are you in a country (like France) where $210.000 = $210,000 (hundreds of thousands of dollars)?

I dont work for Atari.

Yes i live in Europe (not in France though)

Sorry, my bad.The "."is the equivalent of the ",".

Yes, i made about 200,000 (two hundred thousand) USD in 6 years.

But not only with Atari SA. It was one of my positions in my Stock Depot.

Dont think that i am a Millionaire or a great Trader with best knowledge and perfect decisions.

I made huge losses in the past too.

The past years were very easy to make this profit. The world was in a huge changing and i realised that.

Amazon, Google, Netflix and Facebook are the dominating Companies now and they will rule the world. They already do but they will dominate our society.

Accompanied by the low interes rates and the high gold price it was a self runner to make this much money.

I also think that Gaming will become more and more popular and with the digitalization in our society in the next years, the implementation of the Internet of Things and Crypto Currency replacing Cash money that Companies like Sony, Microsoft and Facebook will become more important, valuable and profitable. I hoped and still hope that Atari has high potential to take even a small part of that.

No need to be jealous to my earnings. I am in the middle of a huge life crisis.

The Bank which i worked for 20 years got bankrupt last year and i am unemployed now.

8 Weeks later the doctors told me that my Mother, which i love endlessly, has very hard cancer and only has 6 months to live.

I have to care for my mother, which i very gladly do. She cant even go to toilet now by herself. I cried very much the past months to see her suffering.

And I cant go to find a new job now because i have no time for that. I want to be here for my mother.

Sorry to bother you with my personal problems. I had the need to tell you that.

My sympathies on your mother. It's a situation I've seen myself in my life, and I wish it on no one.

To the point, though, it is not especially useful to the conversation if you cannot tell me how much of the 210,000 you made was the result of owning Atari SA. I'm not even a big fan of using stock info in this thread (I've said many times that stock trajectory has little to do with the ability to create a console) but if you're going to taco bout it, you might as well frame it in such a way we can see context.

My lunch:

Yeah, it's technically an a fajita, but what is a fajita but a taco you have to assemble yourself?

This looks like the same interface we saw with their pictures from last year. I think there are better ones than this "behind the scenes", but I sure couldn't find them.

For what it is worth, I've never seen anyone expressing decimals - fractions of a currency unit - with three digits anyway so anyone mistaking 200.000 for 200 with three decimal places probably has missed the context or thinks this is a very scientific discussion suddenly, one where every decimal makes a lot of difference.

For what it's worth, we're talking with some people who appear to be ( a ) blind brand loyalists, ( b ) optimistic about this holding company to the point where they seem like plants for a pump-n-dump trading scheme, and ( c ) curious about Linux, but not to the point of actually using said OS until a dead brand from the 70's repackages it for them. So it never hurts to ask for clarifications. We prefer commas as separators here. We also use gallons and quarts and put the month first when writing the date, so cut us some slack please. We're just not that bright here in North America.

Here's my favorite song about trailing zeroes.

Wow! This is so awesome!! For the love of tacos!!

So many great things about this!

Like, how they don't actually show it playing a game, in order to build up excitement!

And how there's absolutely no indication of which games are console or arcade versions, in order to add an element of Controlled Randomness™ to the experience!

And how this can't possibly be a non-functioning mockup, because despite how incomplete it looks and how easy it would be for almost anyone with minimal coding skills (or After Effects) to make this, nobody would be stupid enough to post a video of a completely fake, non-functional user interface after so many months of having nothing working to actually show the public.

Way to Atari, Atari!

Also, really like the updated website. This is super-awesome:

It's great to see the Ataribox will work with "a fully functional PC-compatible game controller"! But why did you post a photo of the fake plastic lump that you made instead?

Then what does that make the little phallic one? Is it not fully functional?

I'm willing to think they mean that every knob and button on the PC compatible controller actually registers on the Atari VCS, so it is not only the digital pad and one of the buttons that will make any difference, the rest of the controller is dead weight when used on the VCS. Of course the neo-classic design only has a stick and a button so modern games designed to use multiple sticks and buttons won't play with the old design.

Their PR person fielding questions and complaints on the Facebook page seems to be good with the "classic controller," if you know what I mean.

To alexkeaton,

I'm glad you made some money in the stock market! And ignoring for a moment whether a console will or will not come out, and whether we do or do not trust a company (with our favorite logo on it)...I'd like to wish you and your Mom the Very Best! You're a great son to take care of her and not lose sight of what's important. I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I really do wish you the Best!

Hey everybody, I was browsing retrogaming "TV boxes" and noticed one that has an add on:

post-42153-0-28850300-1526728833.jpg

So Atari SA if you want feedback and ideas, PLEASE make a cartridge slot addon that will take original 2600, 5200 and 7800 carts (and make the software able to run them obviously). Even better if it had slots for Lynx and Jag carts!

Maybe I'm a bit of a dreamer but I really think you will get a bunch more people interested if you did that, even more if you could bring that price down a bit more. I just saw an android TV retrogaming box that will stream/emulate almost anything retro for £75

Hows that for some constructive feedback?

Now back to watching that girl off the telly getting hitched :-) (2 billion watching so I know I'm not the only one.....)

Something to watch as you sip your coffee or beverage o' choice:

This is from late last year, but I'm thinking of taking JP's Bitcoin advice and investing heavily in AtariCoin. What could go wrong?

That's just dumb (sorry). If you have asteroids on cart, then Atari get nothing. If you pay $1 on the Atari UI store to download and play it, then Atari gets $1. This is a business man. They make money off of software not hardware.
