How much would it cost to purchase nutari? Not the name, but the game rights- they sold off Battlezone, so they'd at least be open to the concept. How much value did they place on the IP on that balance sheet? We could buy them out one game at a time and reform without the name, like when a band has one jerk member so everyone else quits and forms a new band.

The selloff happened in 2013, because of their bankruptcy. They'd have to be pretty desperate to sell their seed corn, but maybe circumstances will lead them to that place again.

I quickly Google'd and couldn't find any info on how much they sold Battlezone for (Though I didn't look too hard) If we find that out, we could get a better idea. I'm sure Battlezone is/was worth more then a lot of their other properties. Though I don't know the chance of them selling unless they go bankrupt again and they never find a buyer (haha!) which very well could happen.

You do know if they ever have a fire sale, you'll be bidding against Douchie McDoucheBag in Jersey, right?

 

Besides their recently posted financials made a few references to the value of their assets and they placed a considerably arbitrary value on their ancient catalog rights which was way outside the bounds or reality. Regular Joes will never get their hands on license rights. There will always be some no talent paper pushing schlub trying to make a buck on them until the copyrights expire, or the very unlikely event some outfit with a soul ends up with them and releases them to the public domain. These guys are the reason many people are morally correct to thumb their nose at certain copyrights for personal use no matter what the messed up copyright rules state. Not all of them, but some, just do not have valid claim to legitimate copyright protections when they've been passed around so much for soooo long. Someone making a buck off an IP they don't own is another matter, so that's why it's a shame these skeesie outfits still get to sell rights for commercial use.
