New Atari Console that Ataribox?

Recommended Posts

Love it, hate it, or indifferent to it, is anyone talking about this thing, anywhere?

The Facebook page is abandoned and not even Martial has posted there lately, the IGG page has slowed to the point there hasn't been a post in four days, no one gives a crap about the official info thread here, and even the AtariAge FB page casuals no longer seem to care. The short attention spanned media can't be bothered to follow up on it.

If I was a backer I couldn't bail fast enough. As a taco aficionado, "Atari" isn't even giving me enough material to mock. The silly thing has simply dropped into a black hole.

The whole point of crowdfunding is that you can not bail. They needed the money to manufacture the boards, get the cases made, package the console, etc. They would tell you they spent all the money on making the console, so they can't refund you.

In reality, they probably still have most of the money, but they can just claim they spent it, and can't offer refunds.

Yeah, if you sit on your hands long enough, you can make up all kind of creative stories about how they pissed through all the backer funds and "let the backers down."

lol- on the IGG our good friend Martial has posted more links to that regard. bless his little heart, he just keeps trying.

No one, including "Atari," is posting anything. Ol' Martial might as well throw in the latest breathless press releases.

I doubt he'd go to jail over this, because rich guys almost always get a chance to buy their way out.

Still, I'd think that Nintendo's lawyers must be scenting blood here, on the heels of that $12 million LoveROMs settlement.

Does anyone have a copy of the Ataribollocks' proposed development timeline that they could post? I've been looking for it with no luck.

The graphic on Indiegogo is still up. Do a search for "DELIVERY TIMELINE*"

I included the asterisk, because what is ATARI* without its asterisk?

So glad the e-mail update could pimp the 1UP Atari Arcade.... ;) and yet another update stating "we don't really have an update but here's an update to our non-existent update" because "shhh... secrets!" and "we still have no idea what hardware we're going to use in this thing."

IN OTHER NEWS OH EM GEE!!!!1!

They're shipping Tee Shirts. Everyone can and will be charged their full backing price with additional nonsense for receiving these Tee Shirts!

Wear it loud and proud this holiday season! I'd be surprised if they didn't include something mentioning how to purchase a Speakerhat to go with it...

Also, I don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds terrifying:

The Atari Classic Joystick, which is being developed by the expert team at Power A has also undergone a number of refinements. We can officially announce here that there will definitely be an upgraded “paddle” functionality in the stick that is reminiscent of how the stick worked on the original Atari 5200 joystick.
