New Atari Console that Ataribox?

Recommended Posts

Even if they did commit some environmental crime, this is not the same company. It's a French company which bought the name & from Hasbro, who bought the name from JTS, who merged with Atari Corp, who bought the name from Warner Communications. Chances are the trademark's current owners aren't responsible for any cleanup, & if they are good luck proving it in court with so many ownership changes.

Yep. While I do not know the specific law in whatever State we are concerned with, the general rule is that remediating environmental issues are the responsibility of the current landowner. That is why reasonable purchasers will check the history of a site before purchasing it. The current incarnation of Atari has nothing to worry about from the 1980s.

Are we going to do something special when this reaches page 666?

What happened to the "PROTOTYPE PHASE" tag from above the comments? Did "Atari" remove it, or is IGG not using it anymore? It was useful for demonstrating a lack of progress. I suppose the backers will have to do that themselves now, like so:

It also says....

Prototype

The project team has a working demo, not the final product.

Backers should be demanding to see the working demo. Anything shown to date has been proven a fake as I recall.

Working demo, Like the one Mike Kennedy showed at the game convention?

The SNES mini jammed inside an Atari Jaguar case with a SNES ROM cartridge playing SNES games using SNES controllers?

Allegedly...

Yeah. Ten years oughta be enough time to figure it out, I reckon.

Someone needs to call him out and cite why he thinks its real. Also explain to him the variations of a scam.

Also point out that for illustrative purposes is not evidence. And that this Atari is not the one that has made systems in the past. It is sad.

Florence's story's really kinda sad; she was a talented pianist, but her arm was injured so she took up another musical profession.

Products with embedded Ryzen chips are starting to appear. I think it's reasonable to assume "VCS" will be similar to these, if/when they ever ship it. https://liliputing.com/2019/03/udoo-bolt-single-board-pc-with-ryzen-embedded-starts-shipping-this-week-crowdfunding.html

It reminds me of the flood of low-end, inexpensive Windows devices running Atom processors around 2014. It was neat that they worked at all (particularly the $29 Windows 8 tablet I got from Micro Center that could run things like 2005 Star Wars Battlefront II) but they were so limited in terms of storage and memory and build quality that the market left them behind.

Maybe Ryzen is on the right end of this, so long as integrators don't forget the storage and memory. "VCS" has already received a memory and CPU bump from its humble starting spec, and I agree with the commenter that they may well bump up the storage -- in exchange for yet another 6+ month delay.

Rainfactory's censors were back with a vengeance today. Heavy post casualties on the IGG page.

In other news, PONGF stock hit a new low today.

They also changed it that you can't see the backers now unless you log in.

For every project, or just this one?

The "more" button -- which showed the "shrinkage" between funds raised and funds actually collected -- is gone now, too.

Looks like that is the new norm for IGG. I checked some other pages and no backer list.
