All these game titles you're teasing us with sure seem like a transparent effort to control the kind of gaming we can do. I'd prefer you provide nothing so we can be free to create and make our own games rather than box us in with all those functional games and rules and stuff. I mean really, you even include controllers to make us use it the way you want us to. What's with the control freak attitude man? Also, where do we make our non-refundable cash pre-order payments to? Hmm, have you heard of the new atari VCS? That might be right up your alley!

If anyone is interested in seeing 3 exclusive reimagined Atari games (and 14 others)... please check out the new Intellivision Amico trailer that was just released. Let me know your thoughts. Please help us by sharing this video! The world needs to know that Intellivision is back and available on 10.10 2020. Looking forward to sharing more details and gameplay footage over the next 14 months. https://youtu.be/TzE386pQOy4 Now I can say that the Amico is more "Atari" than the VCS is I know you can't use that in marketing though... Moon Patrol! Something that looks like Sopwith (an old DOS favorite of mine)! New Missile Command! Asteroids! Breakout! They look cool from the brief clips, although that new Combat looking game (is it Armor Attack?) is the most exciting to me of the Atari bunch(unless it's Armor Attack :P). And was that final one Ecco the Dolphin? Overall looks like a solid line-up of casual games. I've heard some out there in the Web-Ether whine about exclusive games these days, but I think that's what a console needs to stand out in the pack, aside from the controller. The only complaint I have about the trailer is that the music just doesn't fit for a family & casual focused console (like it's building up a serious Marvel movie). Otherwise, great tease! Edited August 19, 2019 by Shaggy the Atarian realized it might not be Combat, but AA

Tickled_Pink #19882 Posted August 19, 2019 FWIW, it looks like the Amico team have a game plan. And it might work ... but it does have the slight whiff of an OUYA about it. ARM-based console at best. Atari, on the other hand? No plan. No idea what their market was going to be. As a result, it's all going to pot.

I'm on vacation right now, so I had to watch on my phone, and I didn't get the best view of the games. Give me until Friday or so, and I'll go frame-by-frame on my TV and have some better feedback. The best I can offer now is that the graphics look really solid.

Inky #19893 Posted August 20, 2019 (edited) Intellivision, and Collectorvision are smaller time companies that are showing how to do a console. Not without their hiccups or foibles, of course, but at LEAST they know what they're doing... But then again, maybe #notmyatari knows what they're doing too? One could debate how "small time" a company is based on their capacity to execute properly or effectively. Just cuz the village idiot has the deed to the diamond mine, doesn't make him a competent chief executive with a clue what to do with it. I'm sure the village idiots at Atari SA "know" what they're doing. They're trying their best at a money grab. Could be an attempt to grab money from the stock market, from the retail market, just the saps that gave them money up front, from potential buyers of their assets, or any/all of the above. They are just incredibly ineffective at it, except where the saps part is concerned. Edited August 20, 2019 by JBerel 3

I still have some issues with Amico, but there's absolutely no denying that the "exclusive" games in the sizzle reel are exactly the types of games that Atari likely should have been featuring and leading with on the Atari VCS/box rather than trying to somehow push it as something desirable from a practical technical standpoint. You just aren't going to be competing with the big three console or PC gaming, period, so it's important to have alternative programming like Amico showcased. Frankly, those games are right up my alley and something that actually will make me take a more serious look at Amico come its release window.

Tommy T say the Amico Marketing budget is $10M, which is > 3x Atari's Indigogo Campaign that netted only $3M. So that's some pretty good competition for being small time! I'm glad Tommy T and company are in this "game" to show everyone how to market and communicate with the community!
