New Atari Console that Ataribox?

Recommended Posts

They keep on digging out new lows, don't they? That image is lifted from a true enthusiast, and is easily found via reverse image search, here. https://retro-video-gaming.com/2012/02/02/my-games/

It also appears on https://twitter.com/uberstrategist which I assume is "Atari"'s PR flack.

And of course the pigeons are going nuts as if this image means anything, as if it were deliberate, as if anyone asked for multiple copies of Video Pinball, as if "Atari" gained rights to Activision games. Sloppy PR plus clueless followers equals endless entertainment.

Aww, I'm blocked from following them. How am I going to see how they're riding coattails from 1982 now?

Atari posted a photo they (probably) cribbed from someone's eBay auction on Twitter and now the Support Group thinks those are the games that will come with their VCS.

who has the sad and pathetic lives?  legitimate critics of this fiasco, or the 'supporters' that keep extensive records when someone says something mean about the VCS on the Internet? 😭

The Atari VCS is a home gaming and video computer system aimed at transforming today's TV experience. The VCS offers a wide range of games and multimedia apps for use in an Atar-designed environment. It's no console.

That's why I try not to look at any comments outside this group.

Good grief.

I'd hate for the depressing realities of this project to intrude on my unfounded hopes and dreams.

Andy Kaufman died in 1984, but his brother (and others) have publicly speculated that perhaps he faked his own death. There's no evidence of this, apart from his love of zany, unpredictable practical jokes.

Atari Incorporated, the beloved game company, went bankrupt and shut down in 1984, and was parted out to two other firms bearing the name. There's no sign that the old spark is coming back to Atari SA, but there are those who didn't get the memo, or believe they can wish it back to life, if only they believe hard enough.

Do we have any LP records we can give them to play backwards on their turntables?  It's a good thing they're above coming here looking for information.

I hope they don't discovery our hidden code buried in every 15th pixel and each character of the fifth prime number squared by the devil's true name.

Quick, for any of our secret members that haven't already posted moronic, sycophantic observations in their supporters group, get in there and do it now. I've been watching, and only about 75 of our members hiding in their support group have posted enough to pass as one of their fellow idiots. There are at least 4 of you that haven't posted anything stupid yet. That's a dead giveaway. Get on it, and remember the secret handshake.

Before they infiltrate our lair and discover our secret sect, somebody needs to burn the talismans and scramble the secret ciphers. And for Bort's sake, somebody make sure Elvis and Colonel Sanders don't let themselves be seen by the press again. From now on, we hide in plain site within their group.

Remember the words of our immortal leader, "The hate is strong with this one."

Those advertisements on the previous page look really great, I’ll give them that. If that one ad is implying that their console will play NES games though, someone should let Nintendo know. That’ll go over well.

Also lol at the guy who closed his Twitter account in protest. Congrats, you’ve shut them down for good.

It's not an officially-sanctioned magazine.

It's made by a fan who is a graphic designer, or something..

Wait, Atari SA taking something somebody else made and representing it as theirs. Say it ain't so.

Also, the next phase of our clandestine brotherhood has begun within the AtariVCS supporters group.

That is all.

the twitter post by Atari VCS that had the cart pic is conspicuously absent now.  ;)

They replied to someone asking about though, which seems to keep the stub around. "Aside from the Atari Vault, we do have some games to announce"

Their incompetence is exceeded only by their avoidance and cluelessness.

How these backers don't get upset at how cryptic all their communication has been is beyond me. WTF does posting that image mean, WTH does we do have some more games to annonce mean in the context of we've decided to release ALMOST ALL our games to the VCS?????? And nobody bothers to question why those Telegame cartridges are in the image :)

You know the answer. The summer intern working this project for UberStrategist doesn't know what s/he is doing. They're all just ancient video games. You know, like Forza 4 or NBA2k16.

The (unpaid?) summer intern was selected for this gig because (1) everyone knows that video games are for kids, (2) it's a loser account because they have nothing to announce, and (3) "Atari" is cashing in their Buy 2 Get 1 Free coupon after burning the first two on Feargal's Gameband and The Redonkulous Speaker Hat.

Even if "Atari" is getting this service for nothing, they're overpaying.
