As I am new to the TI-99/4a It was recommended by many to get a FlashROM 99 and I agree. However there is a new version FinalGROM 99.

Should I get the FLashROM 99 or wait for the FinalGROM 99.

When will the FinalGrom 99 be available and will it be price compatible?

I still do not know what cartridges are considered GROM.

Your opinion is appreciated.

Should I get the FLashROM 99 or wait for the FinalGROM 99.

Let's see, you could...

1) Buy what's available NOW and have fun while you can because...

A) The promise of a future item may take much longer than expected, sometimes even years.

B) May never come to fruition at all (become vaporware).

Lots of things can come into play on this one, some examples: parts availability, upfront manufacturing delays and expenses, design issues, problems discovered during beta testing, health status, family issues etc.

2) Wait for the next version because...

A) You don't want to waste money on something just to re-purchase the next version in one or two months.

B) The new item is so much better and does so much more.

Having used both, my suggestion is to try and hold out a little longer. The FinalGROM 99 will be worth the wait.

Yep but truth be told, none of us will give up our FR99 even after we get FG99 will we? Not I. :)

Seeing as I can compile for the FR99 rather easily (same for the FG since it supports the same files) I will most likely use the FR99 just for my stuff and the FG99 for everything else.

Yeah, I'm day dreaming about it all ready. :D

Where is the cheapest place to get these? I want to get an FR99 but cheapest I seen on ebay was around $45, is that the best I will find probably?

I think the only way to get it less expensive is to buy the unassembled kit and build it yourself. That's what I did. And I'm not that great with soldering electronics. But it works.
