C64 DTV help

Hey guys. I was able to get a c64 by mammoth toys at a good price. However I'm havining some issues with movement. I have to push the stick down pretty hard and the direction I want to move. I checked the spring and adjusted some screws. But same issue. Also noticed if I press in the pads with my finger there is no movement

 

I don't have much electrical knowledge. I attached some pics hoping someone can look her over for me. I noticed a lot of hot glue work..not sure if this was from Factory or the last owner.

Also, once I learn how to solder..I plan on rehousing the unit anyways, with joyports/keyboard etc
