Master Phruby #1 Posted June 18, 2017 I'm going to build an arcade machine from scratch. What is the best way to do this? Should I buy a Jamma multi game board or run Mame under windows. I've already built a Raspberry pi based arcade cabinet so I want something a little more robust.
enoofu #2 Posted June 18, 2017 I'm going to build an arcade machine from scratch. What is the best way to do this? Kinda difficult to answer since anyone can go a whole bunch of ways including using a CRT arcade monitor to LCD Monitor or even the super-gun route which is consoling some of the arcade hardware so you can plug it straight into a TV For the most part it shouldn't be that much different from a Raspberry pi based arcade cabinet, just that a real arcade cabinet needs to be very sturdy since a CRT arcade monitor weigh hundreds of pounds and are top heavy I buy a Jamma multi game board or run Mame under windows You may want to try real hardware, the ones I'm listing are basically Arcade Game consoles that use carts instead of the Jamma multi game board Believe they all have flash carts and or multi-game carts and should run a bit better Capcom Play System Capcom Play System II PolyGame Master Sega ST-V SNK Neo Geo MVS Taito F3 System
Master Phruby #3 Posted June 18, 2017 The way I'm leaning right now is to make an arcade controller pedestal with hdmi out and power plug. That way I can plug it into any stand alone LED TV. The Jamma or any native arcade board I would need a vga to hdmi upscaler and audio amplifier built into the controller pedestal. I'm not going to run gun games. Master Phruby #4 Posted June 18, 2017 Actually something more like this with only two players. I could route in some glowire and put some inside the Tron stick.
Keatah #5 Posted June 19, 2017 Well if you're going to have a lot of controls.. Wouldn't the PC + MAME be a better choice?

Something like this: A lot of arcade super-guns do look like that I went with the prebuilt PCB since it takes alot of soldering to make a supergun from scratch I'm using the HAS Supergun which is a PCB that has what your asking except for HDMI out You could attach a full CPSII Kick hardness to get those similar controls hooked up Most Superguns output RGB over Scart since most people are using OSSC or Mini Frame for hdmi up-scaling His shop is under http://www.arcade-projects.com/forums/index.php?board/62-rgb-s-lab/&s=661f9ce4c8243ab44aa444b40fa71997162a26a6 Edited June 19, 2017 by enoofu
