There are a few older Berzerk games on Gamebase64 but perhaps none is particularly good. I suppose games in the Shamus and Wizard of Wor segment are too far from Berzerk to match your needs? There are 1151 games in the category "Shoot'em Up - Miscellaneous". I don't think they were ever officially ported to C64. landgraf's suggestion looks interesting, but it appears to be a recent homebrew. I will definitely try it. Not that I'm against new homebrews, but I would also be interested in something made in the 80s. Speaking of Gamebase64, has anybody had any luck downloading anything from that site lately? The entire collection though seems to be available from other sources, if you can spare a few gigabyte and have a fast connection. carlsson Posted July 9, 2017 Share Posted July 9, 2017 Berzerk (Stern 1980) perhaps was getting a little old by late 1982, early 1983 when the C64 was gaining ground, and newer types of shooters like the previously mentioned Shamus filled part of the need. Frenzy (Stern 1982) as far as I understand was officially only available for the Colecovision in 1983, plus at least two unofficial versions for the ZX Spectrum. Possibly Coleco obtained exclusive rights to home versions of Frenzy? It should be noted that neither of the following Stern/Konami did appear on the C64: * Amidar * Anteater * Bagman * Berzerk * Frenzy * Super Cobra * Turtles * Tutankham Actually the only exception seems to be Pooyan, which was released by Datasoft. There were a number of Scramble games too, but those more likely were clones using the same name rather than licensed ports of Stern/Konami's game. I suppose if one goes through the rest of the Konami library, we'd see a lot of missing titles as well, they aiming more at video games and eventually MSX computers than other formats with a few exceptions. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

carlsson Posted July 10, 2017 Share Posted July 10, 2017 (edited) I think +4 means four different options in the trainer, and the capital D for built-in documentation/instructions. What the other letters like E, G and H represent I'm not sure of. I saw some game released as +44D which seems excessive if it has so many trainer options. E might be for a release modded to run from the Easyflash cartridge, but G totally escapes me . As for those Stern/Konami releases, at least for Bagman there was Bagitman by Aardvark Software, which was also released with a different colour-scheme as "Murphy" by Mogul Communications Ltd., and then there was also Gilligan's Gold by Ocean as more or less inofficial ports. No idea about the other games, though. Edit: Just asked someone in the know about those cracker tags, E stands for translation to English (mostly done with text-heavy games like adventures), and G is for additional Graphics, like a title pic from a different system that's converted to a C64 graphic format.
