Diablo II is great!

Recommended Posts

I've been playing for 2 days! Lol. Right now my Barbarian's name is Thorn_McHagison... Wanted to be original. Lol

I'm lvl 16 now! Just upgraded my armour also! Over 18k gold in armor can really improve your over all kick assing by alot. :D

Act II...

Kinda funny. I didn't realize new monsters were more powerfull. So I go into this area with a friend and I run off ahead of him. At this time I had my crap armor. I got to the end and started wacking these creatures with my Axe and sword. I could kill em pretty easy... Just did realize I couldn't take 20 at once anymore. LOL

Now instead of an Axe AND a Sword... I use two swords. And my Barb looks cool now. I'll make a pic later.

Cheers!

D2 is teh OLD. Nothing but cheaters and PKs on Butthole.net (what's new), so FSGS is the only way to play a decent online multiplayer Blizzard game. Feh. Hell, Diablo 2 was old when I was new to it.

After 1.10 is released (hopefully at the beginning of June) I'm going to try Diablo II again. If I don't see anything new and I keep getting PK'ed by idiots trying to trade me duped items I'm outta there forever, but I thought I'd give this new patch a try.

I played for a few days, I think I am a level 16 sorceress. I thought it was ok, I will replay when 1.10 comes out.

I have to say I was quite disappointed with Diablo II. I thought the first game was better.

As a paladin the game was a cake walk, as a necromancer it was impossible. They need a better balance between the classes. They also changed too much from the first game. The potions work too slow, and I also didn't like how the enemies respawn inplaces you've cleared out.

Take care,

Sean

If you liked Diablo I/II/Hellfire (I know I did) Get yourself Dungeon Siege. Media Play has the original w/ the expansion disk for under $30 think of it like Diablo II meets Warcraft III in 3D without all that D&D ruleset to learn. ie NeverWinter Nights

I bought the Diablo II Battle Chest for $25 new at K-Mart when it was $39 or more everywhere else. Heck of a deal. I did beat it and sold it on Ebay for $25, so I got my money back after playing it for a year! :D

Diablo II is the worst kind of video heroine. I was hopelessly addicted to it for more than a year. I have no idea how many times I played it all the way through. One of the top ten games of all time IMO.

I hear ya, I just recently re-installed Diablo II + the exp. but for now stopped playing while I'm playing Dungeon Siege. The only thing bad about DS is that I dont think the land/dungeon changes like in Diablo but I hope I'm wrong tho.. (that was the biggest thing that keeps me returning to Diablo)

I didn't find that I needed to know the D&D ruleset to enjoy Neverwinter Nights. It has much more RPG depth than Dungeon Siege, but that's not saying a whole lot. And I'm not trying to knock Dungeon Siege here.

But it's difficult to find a game that truly lives up to the Diablo II legacy of RPG-lite butt-kicking action. Actually, it's pretty much impossible. There have been a few games besides Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Siege which, while not necessarily following in Diablo II's footsteps completely, should appeal to some fans of the game:

Blade & Sword: Kind of like Diablo II (except the graphics are actually a bit worse), but with a different style of combat (more combo-based, sort of like a fighting game) and with fewer RPG elements. It's a good game that I tend to defend against its detractors. Its graphic style and interface owe a great deal to Diablo II.

Divine Divinity: "Diablo II meets Ultima, or some other real CRPG game." It has an action-based fighting system (though there's less mouse-clicking), a ton of great skills to learn, and a wide-open world to explore with lots of side-quests. This is a 2D game but with great art.

Sacred: Kind of like Divine Divinity, but with fewer skills and a little more action-based combat. The world is also a ton bigger than that found in Divine Divinity, which was already pretty big. The world is so big that after playing it for 15 hours I've only uncovered roughly 7% of the game world (yes, it does keep track of that). The environments are well-drawn 2D, while the characters are all well-rendered and animated 3D.

Nox: This came out before Diablo II, actually. It's also a bit like Diablo but with faster action and lighter RPG elements. Also check out Darkstone if you can find it. Darkstone came out earlier than Diablo II, but in 3D.

Well I picked up the Neverwinter Nights Gold (original + the expansion) for under 40 the same day as I gotten DS but after looking at the book it seem complicated(SP?) havent really went far with it maybe 1/2 to 1 hour of playing.

The learning curve is more steep than that of Dungeon Siege, but it's not too bad (compared to, say, Baldur's Gate 1&2 for the PC, or even Icewind Dale). I don't know much about D&D but I've found Neverwinter Nights to be extremely enjoyable and easy to jump into.
