Atari Invasion on Tour (UK)

All,

Atari Invasion is a group of Atari enthusiasts from the Netherlands that like to share their Atari experience and collections. For those that don't know what an Atari Invasion entails, have a look at the summary post of the last event.

When found out about the Retro Computer Festival 2017, we decided to join in on the fun and contacted the organisation of the event, asking if we could participate as exhibitors during the weekend. Long story short, our help was accepted and so we (F#READY and me) will be present during the retro computer festival in Cambridge. The plan is to demonstrate whatever fits in our bags and is still within airline regulations. Our packing list is therefor a bit limited in size (and weight). We intend to demo the following things:

* Harmony Cart (2600)

* MATEOS' Multicart (7800)

* AtariVox+ (2600/7800)

* MyIDE2+/SIDE2/Ultimate Cart/AtariMax 1+8Mb (8-bit)

* SIO2SD/SIO2PC (8-bit)

Although things like the TurboFreezer, SysCheck2, tf_hh's SCCC, Antonia are also on our shortlist of things we would like to bring and demonstrate. Next to the physical things, we will also bring tons of software thanks to modern age storage solutions. We decided against bringing ST/TT/Jaguar/Lynx related things and software, so if you'd like to join our ranks and bring some of these, or want to get a stand yourself, get in touch!

Also feel free to get in touch for a meet-and-greet if you are/live in the area, we're in the UK from 15-9 'till 17-9.

Kind regards,

F#READY and Senor Rossie

All,

Today at our bimonthly meeting at the 'HCC Commodore clubdag' we had a chance to show off our flyer for the 'Home Computer Festival' to those attending:

In case you want us to promote your products/parties/shows/club/podcast/youtube channel/etc. get in touch.

We plan to bring flyers (our own, the ones that came with our purchases at the Atari Age store and others too), stickers, business cards and we also bring some posters (if they are permitted on the plane).

Beside all the physical stuff, we also have an info-beamer presentation (digital signage/power point presentation on steroids) that will display lots of videos (old commercials, 3D render of the 1050/800XL/2600, Party Invitros (SV2k17), etc.) and still images of product information, atari posters, system information, etc. If you supply us with an image (1920x1080, jpg or png) we can put it on the screen during both days too. If you need help creating that image, get in touch too...

Kind regards,

F#READY and Senor Rossie

All,

Our first steps as Atari Invasion outside of the Netherlands could not have gone better. We were expecting a lot, but the warm welcome, the professionalism of the people involved and the great atmosphere of the Centre for Computing History were above and beyond anything we could think of before our arrival.

We arrived early afternoon on Friday the 15th and almost immediately started with setting up the hardware the CfCH kindly lent us for the weekend. The power supplies that came with their machines looked like Ingots and since they mentioned red screens on some of their 8-bit hardware, we took it upon us to warn them. Fortunately we brought USB to DIN7 plugs with us to power the 8-bits, as well as some DIN5 to RCA plugs for video. So the 8-bit part was covered and soon the screens attached to them were showing off some demos. The 600XL with U1Mb and stereo pokey survived the flight and was up and running in no time. The Harmony encore cartridge unfortunately crashed upon boot and re-flashing the firmware didn't help. So the 2600 was fitted with the home-brew cartridge 'Defend your castle' we brought (and later donated to the museum). Flyers and folders were arranged next to the info-beamer screen and the systems we just setup before we went out to get some food and sleep.

Saturday morning we learned that the guys that were supposed to man the two tables next to us were not able to make it, so we claimed some extra space and set up the 7800 again and moved the 2600 again. We met with a lot of interesting people and demonstrated the turbo freezer, ultimate cart, side2 (with streaming video), sdrive arm and of course the multijoy8 we brought.

Our last day at the Retro Computer Festival ended before the festival finished, as we had a flight to catch. The extra table space we got on Saturday was handed over to the guy from 'Binary Dinosaurs' who brought with him a neat find, a Brazilian clone of an Apple II clone in an Atari 1200 casing. We did some more demos and even showed some of our own handiwork, before packing our things. As stated, we donated some items to the museum (to make room for the goodies we bought in the gift shop) and said our goodbyes.

Until the next Invasion,

Freddy and Dennis

P.S. An impression of (our part of) the event is attached and we hope to release a timelapse video soon.

As mentioned earlier, we created a timelapse of our stand at the festival. The raw video is on youtube:

We've been in touch with the CfCH, and aside from the announcement that the festival will become an annual event, they also mentioned that they will publish an edited version of this video on their own youtube channel @https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnw4p95EOWghQNP4vOv8VHw
