Someone has this listed on a Facebook Garage sale site. They want $125 and list as original very good like new.

 

My problem is I have never seen raccoon Mario on one of these and it just shouts fake to me. I kind of already called them out on it as I have collected Nintendo for so long. I was not rude in case I am wrong. I simply said they needed to show resources this is original and not some modern day paint job.

I had one of these a few years ago but it had heavy water damage and the Nintendo sticker was almost off, so I tossed it when I moved.

 

Mario sticker could have been put on there by it's previous owner.

He admitted the Mario is a sticker, I shall assume the logos are stickers as well and it has a fresh coat of paint.

It's real, the sticker was added to it. $125 is likely fair for it, if you're a huge Nintendo collector fanboy trying to find old licensed furniture that hasn't been beat to hell and back after 30 years. Good luck having someone prove it is real though, not like it was covered in some Nintendo barcode/serial number on it like the old merchandising displays of the day had some ID to it.

My little cousin had one of these growing up. Typical el-cheapo pressboard construction. Guess I'm not too surprised someone would ask so much for something like this, what with the Mario sticker and all! ha

I don't know why I click view on people I have filtered. The only real thing about this is the actual stand itself. I really hate even replying to you because you know everything and are never wrong.

 

$125 is NOT a fair price for this item. This item in "original untouched collector quality condition" sells for $125 with Original paint and original painted artwork which this has none of. This does not have anything but stickers on it which means this was painted over the original art, likely by this seller.

 

To me being a collector this has practically zero value. Much like buying a faded and/or trashed box. I don't need someone to prove it is real he has already admitted it is not! I left room for the possibility I was wrong and it was fully original but I am not wrong and it is not 100% original. When I use the term original I mean just that, not repurposed, which is what this is.

 

It likely may be a real cabinet but it is not a like new original piece that contains original artwork. For this item the original artwork matters more than the wood, in my opinion.

Aren't you fun. If you're filtering me then do not reply if you're even seeing this. You say I never want to be wrong, yet you start out with that insult to try and make sure everyone buys your story and ignores me which is pretty petty. As you said it's your opinion and yours alone just as mine is mine. If you don't like it fine, but the snark and douchy behavior isn't called for. So one piece of artwork is gone, it lessens it some but it still is what it is and whatever someone feels they may pay for it will range on how they feel about what's most important. To you it's some sticker, to someone else it'll be total usable look and condition of the unit down to dings, scratches, cracks, rotting, broken wheels (or supports) etc.

 

You wonder why people get abrasive with you, it's because of that approach right there. I'm fine admitting it when I'm wrong, when I am but that won't be the case here since we don't agree. I said it could be fair, depending on how big of a collector fanboy one is and how big they are on the condition of the thing itself. One person will see $30, another could see $150 it just depends. Given the stupid amounts of money overkill collectors of 80s Nintendo crap put down on stuff nothing would surprise me anymore as I'd rather shoot high than low and be more surprised.

Keep laughing. I am far from pissed. My problem is he is selling fake shit as original. I AM NOT! My reproductions and are sold just as that REPRODUCTIONS!

Why are you on this site? If selling reproductions bothers you so much I suggest you not go on a site full of people who make and sell them.
