Pitfall II HES (Australia) release. How rare is it?

I just won an auction for the HES release for $39 in the box. I hate talking about rarity in terms of I feel it the games should come first rather than worth etc. However, very little info I can find about it. I know Pitfall II had a chip in it to make the game bigger, so is the HES version very limited in production due to this chip? Think I saw a loose cart on Ebay 2 years ago for a high price but haven't seen one except this copy since.

Well seeing as that was an auction for the HES version of Pitfall II and you won it at $39, perhaps $39?

It's quite uncommon, i got mine about 5 years ago, and since then i've probably seen about 4 on ebay. I remember one going boxed for around $100 on ebay australia a few years ago.

I was actually watching the game you bought to see what it would go for, i think why it sold for so little was the condition (label and box) but a good find nonetheless

Yep, I think it's something between 150 to 250, maybe even a bit more. One of the really rare regular PAL (non-pirate) releases. It's the only HES game I am still looking for to complete my HES CIB releases.

The HES version is possibly the Activision cart anyhow with a different label and box packaging. Certainly all the Activision games that HES released for the C64 in Australia were the original carts with no changes at all, only the packaging is different.
