+CharlieChaplin #6 Posted October 15, 2017 (edited) Well, here you find an old version of the A8FAQ that includes two lists of programs that either support or require XRAM: http://www.atarimania.com/faq-atari-400-800-xl-xe.html Look for subjects 8.11 and 8.12 mostly written by me a long long time ago (the day the music died). You can also do a search via Fandals great database, e.g.: - for min. 128k RAM: http://a8.fandal.cz/search.php?search=130XE&butt_details_x=x - for min. 320k RAM: http://a8.fandal.cz/search.php?search=320XE&butt_details_x=x - for min. 1088k RAM: http://a8.fandal.cz/search.php?search=1024+kb&butt_details_x=x There are also "several" demos/animations (more than 300) that require 128k, 320k, 576k or 1088k RAM in the TIP Animator thread here at AA: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/130172-tip-animator/ (Maybe I should upload my final versions of TIP animations.) +Stephen #8 Posted October 15, 2017 Sparta DOS X makes great use of extended RAM, as does The Last Word (word processor). Quite a few disk copiers can also use extra RAM to do single pass copies of disks.
VicViper #9 Posted October 15, 2017 My 320KB games selection: Airball Bomb Jack Crime Buster Commando Mean 18+ Midi Maze I cant quite get Bomb Jack to work for some reason. Get to the load screen, but then just scrambled bars after a long second load. Is it NTSC compatible?

gilsaluki #11 Posted October 18, 2017 I have ALWAYS loved the idea of memory expansion. I have done several (RAMBO XL, etc). But, as you will soon learn, there isn't much that utilizes it. So, I have sworn NOT to waste my money any longer. I love the 8-bit just as it is. Besides RAM disks, one-pass copies of disks, and Demos....RAM upgrades are useless on the 8-bits. My opinion, my experience only....don't shoot me for having an opinion. No disrespect is meant. Just an honest opinion. I know how 'sensitive' people are these days.. Andromeda Stardust #13 Posted October 18, 2017 At first glance I thought it was "320k burning a hole in my wallet." I dunno. Buy a McLaren or something?
+Swami #14 Posted October 18, 2017 There are more than a few games on my Ulimate SD cart that do not work with only 64K of RAM. For instance, Crossbow and Draconian both give me an "insufficient RAM" type message.

TheTIGuy #16 Posted October 18, 2017 (edited) I know how 'sensitive' people are these days.. People don't tend to be "sensitive" unless you talk about politics or the Sandy Hook incident. Well, that and things people breathe. When I first saw this I thought that he was having a power issue!
