Ham-fisted sales pitch notwithstanding, I will say that I still see value in written-word outlets for this hobby, so long as they are well executed and have good quality control. I can look beyond shoddy grammar and typos on social media and forums where people are just chit-chatting casually, but I have an extremely low threshold of pain for that stuff in more formal presentation formats like magazines.

 

Typically, I prefer digital magazines, just due to the convenience and portability of having the stuff on a tablet. I'd much rather read a mag than watch downloaded YouTube videos when I'm on an airplane, for example.
