Remove protect problem with ATR for SIO2PC with APE

Recommended Posts

When I try to load the following game to my 800XL with SIO2PC from Atarimax and APE, a screen comes up that says "remove protect." How do I fix this? Thanks!

Here is the APE's screenshots' page: http://atarimax.com/ape/screenshots.html

Look at first figure there. Near rightmost end of pink belt there is small padlock icon (next to it is bigger "Swap" icon as well).

Click that "padlock" in your APE window to remove virtual protection form ATR and try booting it then.

I remember I tried this and the message still showed up. Maybe I have to eject and reload the ATR or just ignore the message afterwards. I'll putter with it some more. A little odd that this device and software is on sale with no user manual or tutorial videos to speak of. I thought there would be one on the CD with the software. Do you get one with the registered version of APE?

Okay. This is what I get after loading to the empty drive field, it was already unlocked this time, and turning on 800XL: The last row continues forever until I shut the 800 XL off. If I hold down OPTION, the same thing happens. If I hold down OPTION AND START, I get the blue screen with the cursor and the SIO2PC drive does nothing but read "drive status" in the purple bar. Just another corrupt ATR file? (P.S., I loaded another file to try to stop the streaming of the last row, Special Forces ATR loaded and boot attempted in 2nd picture.)

I think it must have been a bad ATR, I found a version in the Best 800 Pack that works although it seems to play a little weird. Maybe because it is a PAL game.
