Heavy Sixer Serial Number Thread

What do you guys think of this serial number? I haven't looked at the thread, but it has no letter. The unit has some edge wear, and I'm throwing it on eBay since it's a spare.

Those foil stickers indicate serviced or refurb units.

 

When they add the foil sticker, do they use the original serial number or issue a new one?

Does this mean this unit was manufactured in the 30th week of 1977 (273Syyww yy=year ww=week)?

Or was just the RF shield sticker made in 1977?

Probably the RF modulator was assembled in week 7730, and the entire console some time afterward.

Redacted, based on this comment in this thread:

 

Clear nail polish should be fine. Your system is a Light-sixer. These were made both with channel switch and without, but all almost all have the hole for it. The Sunnyvale light 6's didn't have the switch at first, only the Dimerco(taiwan) units did. Atari used the earlier "no-ch switch" boards until stockpiles were used up. Most of the earlier units sent in were just swapped with newer parts. Based on the serial# of yours, I feel very safe in stating it was originally a no-switch unit. I have one with a later serial that doesn't have one.

Most of the voltage regulators I've had to replace were on the earlier boards, but they're cheap and easy.

 

Apologies - - I was fooled by the "Factory Refurbished" aspects of the unit, the early PCB revisions, and the cast aluminum RF shield, which I realize are on some later units as well.

Cool! That's another two-sticker unit. If you look closely, you can just see the edge of another sticker underneath the top one. It's still not entirely clear where these two-sticker units fit in to the overall picture. However, that's the lowest number I've seen on a two-sticker unit. I have one of these units as well (#007621).

BTW, I would advise you NOT to attempt to peel the top sticker away. You will end up destroying both stickers. I don't believe there is anything printed on the bottom sticker anyway.

 

One more thing, does the console have a cutout on the bottom for the channel-select switch? If so, is the actual switch present as well?

Just picked up Lendorien's Heavy Sixer and its serial number is 68331K

Cool! That's another two-sticker unit. If you look closely, you can just see the edge of another sticker underneath the top one. It's still not entirely clear where these two-sticker units fit in to the overall picture. However, that's the lowest number I've seen on a two-sticker unit. I have one of these units as well (#007621).

I saw the doubled up sticker on the unit, I think I can barely make out bits of text that may be underneath it but nothing legible. At this age attempting to peel off the top sticker would be disastrous.

 

Another thing I noticed on the unit is a sticker on the inside by the RF plug, I'm not certain if it's a Date stamp or not, I took a photo, but I do see where it says '7734'.

 

 

Does that mean 34th week of 1977? (Late August)
