bikeguychicago #1 Posted October 31, 2017 (edited) I'm starting to pull together the parts for my next controller project. Fortunately, I found this slightly blemished CPO on GameOnGrapix for $6! Edited October 31, 2017 by bikeguychicago
bikeguychicago #2 Posted November 6, 2017 (edited) Found a nice PDF that had the correct placement for the buttons and used that as a template for drilling the holes. Now to build the rest of the box. Edited November 6, 2017 by bikeguychicago

+Nathan Strum #6 Posted November 7, 2017 A Starplex is fine, but nothing beats actual arcade fire buttons.
bikeguychicago #7 Posted November 7, 2017 (edited) I was thinking of getting one of the Starplex controllers. However, for the price, it was cheaper for me to build the one I am making. I have a few spare controllers, wood and paint from my last project that I am starting with. The only thing I really needed to buy this time were the buttons. The control panel overlay I found was a nice bonus. I like that it also matches the styling of the 7800 somewhat. bikeguychicago #8 Posted November 12, 2017 (edited) I made some progress on the controller over the past couple of days. I painted it a flat black, added the control panel overlay and mounted the buttons. Overall, I'm happy with the results. It's not perfect, but it's for my use so it doesn't need to be. bikeguychicago #11 Posted November 13, 2017 (edited) I spent about an hour, wired it up, tested each button individually, and glued the cord into place with a hot glue gun.It works wonderfully. And, yes, you can point press on the 7800 Asteroids Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk Edited November 13, 2017 by bikeguychicago

bikeguychicago #13 Posted November 13, 2017 (edited) is the graphic from an arcade game? It's a reproduction overlay that is intended for an Asteroids Deluxe cocktail cabinet. The one I bought was cut incorrectly so I was able to get it very cheap. Now I need to order Bob D's Asteroids Deluxe so that I have the game that matches the overlay.
