great price on GP32........

Recommended Posts

I'm considering getting one, but I wonder just how much I'd use it. I don't travel much (maybe 3 or 4 times a year) and I hate playing handhelds at home. Maybe when the price comes down.

I think you'll have to wait a long time ;)

(the GP32 has dropped only one time, at the beginning in fact, and it will only drop again if it's released wordlwide at the end of the year)

200 or $150 is not much if you consider it plays games, MP3 and DivX, etc

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to ask, how is the emulation on it? Does it run well?(or is at least fun to play) Also, has any of you ran a divx movie on it? I heard it only runs at like 10fps, is it watchable? I've wanted a GP32 since the first time I heard about them.

I was just looking for this thread the other day because I was thinking about getting a front lit GP32. I ordered one and the package should arrive on Wednesday (I cant wait!).

I cant tell you from first hand experience but I heard from multiple people that the Divx movies run perfect on the system. Even at 10fps because they use the slower refresh rate of the TFT screen (relative to a CRT) to the Movieplayer's advantage. Which supposedly makes the movie run seamless even in high action scenes. Now, this is just what I've heard. I'll tell ya what I personally think when the system comes in :).

That's really cool, because I just bought a 128 mb smart media card off of eBay, so that could hold like a full hour long show!(or maybe even a full movie if it's a little less than great quality) I would like to hear your evaluation of it when you get it. I also should be getting one soon, I bought one from Willard(who is on these forums). :) I've wanted one of these since like when they came out.

I can't really find very much information on the divx player though. I've found one you have to pay for, are there any free ones? And does it have to be encoded a certain way?(certain resolution or something). If you could point me to a site with some information, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I can't wait to get mine!!!!!! :) :) :)

I just went with the standard version, no front lit screen. I heard the screen is pretty good anyways, so I'm hoping it should be fine. Good luck with your GP32!

Well, your going to be pleasantly surprised because a 128MB SMC can hold 2.5 hours of video at a decent quality (if you dub it yourself). And there is even talk that Game Park is going to make a 256MB SMC!

There are free players out there but I would spend the nine bucks and get the Movieplayer because it's the most reliable version out there. The Movieplayer comes with all the software you need to encode multiple media formats into Divx. Here is a great site that has all the information and programs needed to dub your own movies.

Good luck with your GP32!

Thanks :)

BTW, Here? is a cool forum dedicated solely to the GP32. Check it out!

Woah! 2.5 hours of video!!! That's way more than I thought. I thought it would be like 45 minutes. I have no problem spending the $9, it's just the matter of where to get it and how I can pay. If 128mb can hold 2.5 hours of divx movies, how many hours of mp3's can it hold? I plan on using the mp3 function too.

I'll check out that forum, it sounds like a cool place.

I just realized I've been checking out that site for over a day now. I didn't realize it was the same site at first. Although I hadn't checked out the forums there yet.

Hi !

About emulation on GP32, it works quite well. The best of them are

PC Engine

Master System/ Game Gear

Atari ST

Genesis

Neo Geo Pocket Color

Nes

2600

etc

SNES is quite good too but need more work :)

Happy gaming with your GP32 !
