NBA Jam VS White Men Can't Jump Battle - Podcast

Recommended Posts

There's really no contest between those two, is there? Not in my mind, anyway -- and I don't really like basketball.

This should have been a poll.

NBA Jam all the way though I'm not sure the Jag port is the best for whatever reason. I'm more into the SNES version of this game.

I loved the jag version of NBA Jam and played it to beat all teams and really enjoyed it. Bright colors and big heads, awesome game!

Sorry, since I replied to my post - it now says 316 views! Not sure why it fixed itself or I am just being dense?

IIRC threads show like that until someone replies (at least they used to a few years ago when I visited here more often).

The Jaguar version seems more subdued for whatever reason...it's harder to get the extreme slams happening.

The SNES and Genesis versions are slam fests in comparison. Still..NBA Jam is a good reason to bust out the Team Tap

I'll agree on that for sure, it seems harder to get the crazy dunks/slams going on the Jaguar vs the other versions. Also sucks that the Jaguar version costs $40-80 depending on if loose or with a box vs. the SNES or Genesis being like $10 for the game in a case!

The Jaguar version doesn't feel much like the arcade version to me. NBA Jam Tournament Edition on the Saturn and NBA Showtime on the Dreamcast are the two games in the series that play closest to their arcade counterparts. Haven't really figured out which original Jam is closest, but it wasn't the Jaguar.

I've played nearly all the Jam's for the various systems and have to say, I enjoyed the 1st version or two for the SNES best. I prefer the slightly smaller players without the big heads actually. Felt like you could navigate the court better without losing sight of who has the ball and make better jams, etc.

In comparison, the Jaguar version just felt "off" somehow. Don't know if it's because of the larger players making the court feel cramped or what. Controls not as responsive either maybe. As hard as I tried, simply couldn't get into this version.

And any way you try to slice it, WMCJ sucks. ;)
