Savetz #1 Posted December 7, 2017 Here are 9 Commodore 64 programs that have been trapped in an obscure bar code format since 1983, now published for the first time. https://archive.org/details/C64DatabarOSCARSoftware They were released in the only issue ever published of Databar-The Monthly Bar Code Software Magazine. Users were expected to scan in the programs using a handheld reader. We previously saved the programs from the Atari and TI 99/4A versions of the magazine. My interview with the founders of company will be published soon at ANTIC — The Atari 8-Bit Podcast. -Kevin
carlsson #2 Posted December 7, 2017 Did they use the tagline "security by obscurity"?
brain #3 Posted December 8, 2017 Wow, I hope folks didn't spend too much time on this. I have the OSCAR reader here and the magazine and could have run the program to read them. Never thought about it, actually. Jim
Savetz #4 Posted December 16, 2017 The podcast episode all about Databar OSCAR is published today. This episode contains three interviews and took more than a year to put together, including a small team of people to recover the magazine software for three computing platforms. http://ataripodcast.libsyn.com/antic-interview-321-databar-oscar -Kevin
