Sdw #1 Posted December 10, 2017 At the Silly Venture party the theme for the VCS/2600 compo was to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of this fantastic piece of hardware. Together with Mermaid I put together a little entry and sent to the competition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VDm974mpLU You can get the ROM file here (for PAL only): http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=72716

DirtyHairy #7 Posted December 10, 2017 This is very cool. I especially like the large multicolored bitmaps. Out of curiosity, what is the difference between the emulator binaries and those for real hardware?
carlsson #8 Posted December 10, 2017 It appears to me that files with the 3F suffix tells the Harmony those use the Tigervision 3F bank switching scheme, while files with the BIN suffix would need to autodetect, like Stella also does. By offering files with the 3F suffix, the demo won't risk to be misdetected by Harmony and fail to run. Stella on the other hand has menu settiings to manually select bank switching in case it fails to autodetect.
+RevEng #9 Posted December 10, 2017 Very entertaining and impressive. +1 for the great theme too.

Ah, you're right, I just compared the two files, and they are indeed identical (up to the suffix).

Sdw #12 Posted December 13, 2017 Thank you all for the positive comments! And carlsson is exactly right regarding the 3F-extension, it's just to force the correct bankswithing scheme.

Video #14 Posted December 14, 2017 Awesome, nice colors on the Egyptian people (Anubis?) Even single color per scanline it was really well designed. Like the spirally thing around the scarab. Didn't notice at first it went in front and behind the image. Now I want a cart This and the Atari 40 demo...
Jinroh #15 Posted December 14, 2017 Awesome that Egyptian theme is really rad.
Mermaid #16 Posted December 15, 2017 Awesome, nice colors on the Egyptian people (Anubis?) Even single color per scanline it was really well designed. Thank you, the pictures were fun to do! Thank you to everyone else as well for your kind comments! You're correct; the man with the canine head is Anubis. In 2600 BC he was still the most important Egyptian god of the dead and the afterlife. The woman with a fish crown on her head and an Atari CX10 joystick in her hand is the fish-goddess Hatmehit, a goddess of life and protection.
Video #17 Posted December 15, 2017 Is there going to be a cart, or could those of us that want one have permission to have Albert make them? I just got a thing for tech demos.

Jinks #20 Posted December 17, 2017 This should have 160 pages of responses. But nothing to scoff at it is just pure awesome that is all.
Tidus79001 #21 Posted June 16, 2019 Wow! Just saw this the other day on YouTube and I am blown away by the graphics, effects and music being pulled off in this demo. Just awe inspiring seeing what can be accomplished on the Atari 2600 with a bit of clever programming.
root42 #22 Posted June 19, 2019 Easily my favorite demo so far. Brilliantly done. I love demos that tell a story and not only tack one part after the other. Is there any blog or website that explains the parts and technical details some more?
NostAlgae37 #23 Posted June 20, 2019 I have to agree that this one blew me away, I love the Egyptian-styled art and theme. A+++
