It should also be noted that JiffyDOS is still available from Jim Brain at Retro Inovations;

There are a couple of sellers on ebay who offer switchless versions, so you don't have to drill a hole in your computer,

aaascrapdogsunlimited is an excellent firm to deal with. (I have no connection with them).

Indeed. I purchased one of eBay Seller: aaascrapdogsunlimited1?ff3=10&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER] switchless JiffyDOS for my 64C, but the ROM on the C is soldering in place so I have not yet installed it.

I have also purchased numerous from Jim at RetroInnovations, including for my MSD-2.

Both have their incompatibilities. If what you have works, stick with it until it no longer works.

I went from cartridge-based fast-loaders to JiffyDOS because it accelerates everything, including RELative files (for BBSes, in particular,) and because it freed up the cartridge port for an REU. I went from FastLoad to Warp Speed since v2 works with 1581s, and for the machine language monitor (how I learned 6502,) then to JiffyDOS.

I suppose one good benefit of the cartridges over JD is the carts do not require ROMs to be installed in the drives. JiffyDOS will only accelerate drives with JiffyDOS installed, which can get pricey (or could, BITD,) whereas now the ROMs are fairly inexpensive and if you can burn your own you can purchase the images.

If i already have an Epyx Fastload Reloaded, should i really bother with a JiffyDOS? All i do with my C64 is load games from my SD device.

I personally would say no. JiffyDOS is useful if you need the cart slot free for some reason, but otherwise the Epyx Fastload does basically the same thing when used with an SD2IEC device. In my experience is exactly the same speed as the Epyx cart.
