ATARIPITBULL #26 Posted May 31, 2003 Its what I have been saying for a little while now!!, my collection of boxed and loose Atari 2600 games is getting so big, that now I have no choice but to go after the more rare and expensive games if I want to complete my collection, but I still have a ways to go. Room 34 #27 Posted May 31, 2003 Yeah... I guess you eventually get to a point where you have to say, "OK... now I can either start shelling out the big bucks or resign myself to stopping here." I'm glad I'm not there yet... I'm noticing a lot more scarce/rare games than usual on eBay right now... anyone else observe that?
ATARIPITBULL #28 Posted May 31, 2003 You are right!!!!!! I am starting to pick up lots of games that I did not have in my collection and just a few minuets ago, I got a loose copy of Jawbreaker from Tigervision for just $10.00, its a five on the rarity scale. Room 34 #29 Posted May 31, 2003 I was looking at that exact same copy of Jawbreaker and I would've bid on it if I hadn't already bid on several others! Here's the stuff I have added to my collection through eBay just in the last 48 hours (and what they closed at): Submarine Commander - $7.52 Challenge of Nexar - $2.00 Survival Run - $2.25 California Games - $4.69 Oink! (CIB) - $0.99 (YES!) None of these are anything I was THAT interested in (other than Submarine Commander, and I guess Oink! just because it's Activision), but at those prices I couldn't NOT bid! Nice score on Jawbreaker by the way...
ATARIPITBULL #30 Posted June 1, 2003 Thanks Room 34. I was looking at my collection yesterday and I can see that I have a lot of doubles of sealed new games, ads, Atari comics, instruction mauals, Atari cartridge holders, Joysticks and ETC, so I think some time tomorrow I will place a complete list of everything I have that I will sell in one big lot in the Atariage market place. Things like 10 sealed 2600 games from Atari, Imagic, Froggo, Activision & Epxy.
Atari2600Lives #31 Posted June 3, 2003 $330 was a great deal! Good job! I rememebr when I got my Quadrun (for about the same price) it's pretty exciting getting it in the mail!

I'm in the same boat as you. I find myself routinely paying $20-$30 for games I snubbed my nose at a year or two ago simply because EVERYTHING I don't have is in the mid-to-upper price range now. Sigh.
+Nathan Strum #33 Posted June 4, 2003 Congrats on winning the bid! But jinkies! $330? Glad I bought mine when I did (20 years ago)... Had I known at the time... I would've bought ten of 'em. While part of me would like to collect the games I missed out on 'back in the day', part of me is glad I'm not doing it. I think it'd be too much work, stress, money, etc. I collected comic books for some time, and after awhile, I wasn't buying comics to read, but rather to be a completist, or 'just in case' they were going to be worth something. I completely burned out on it, and ended up losing my collection to an unscrupulous store owner who never paid me what he owed me for it (and it'd be worth a lot more now). I think that burned me so bad, I decided not to collect anything else again. I just hang onto what I've owned all along. In the end, it turned into a nice little collection anyway. Of course, to each their own. I think emulators have played a big part in mellowing my 'need' to get those games. I've played a lot of the ones I didn't buy back then, and most have turned out to be pretty poor games. Although if it weren't for Stella, I'd probably be climbing the walls to get some of the games I missed.
