Problem with side expansion port on my beige TI

Recommended Posts

Hi,

For the love of all I hold dear, I can't seem to be able to insert anything in the side of my beige TI-99... There is a kind of a flap/Spring that just push the VS and/or the firehose out when inserted. Here's a pic of it:

Is it safe to remove or modify it?

Absolutely! Rip that worthless foreskin off quick, before it shorts out your expansion port! :ponder:

Would be easier just to bend the tabs away from the board, rather than having to take the console apart to remove them?

I ended up carefully prying it up with a screwdriver just enough and long enough for me to insert the speech synth in. This baby isn't getting out on its own now...

Man I could do so many virgin jokes right now :)

When was that made? Seems rather prophetic... especially with all the "safe spaces" required by the powder puff college kids now days.

That clip is from his show "You're All Diseased" in 1999. He did another bit around the same time about airport security where he called it "security theater," and I actually said that in my half-asleep daze when my girlfriend woke me up on 9/11.
