JamesD #1 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) I have some carts I want to sell and was curious if there is any sort of guide on rarity, etc... that would help with pricing. Edited December 20, 2017 by JamesD

+save2600 #3 Posted December 20, 2017 Well, there's also this thing called eBay. The most accurate and up-to-date price guide available since 1997. But was that too obvious?
JamesD #4 Posted December 20, 2017 Well, there's also this thing called eBay. The most accurate and up to date price guide available since, like 1997. And filled with people asking $50 for a single cart

digdugnate #6 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) fwiw your BurgerTime, Return to Pirates Isle, Exceltec XB and Donkey Kong carts are a little bit harder to find on ebay (as an example)- when i was trawling for carts this year those were ones i had a harder time getting. i think 2-5 dollars for the other carts and probably 10-15 for those 3 would be pretty reasonable. on the XB I've no clue but maybe $20? Omega-TI #8 Posted December 20, 2017 Many sellers on Ebay have the same thoughts as used car salesmen. That being... 1) Nobody thinks of themselves as STUPID. - so - 2) Nobody will STUPIDLY pay more for something than it is worth to them. - so - 3) It's their job to pry as much money as possible out of the sucker er, client as possible. - because - 4) They are in business to make money, not run a charity. (Who decides how much profit is too much?) - which means - 5) The seller is happy and the buyer is supposed to be happy too. (Win Win)
+OLD CS1 #9 Posted December 20, 2017 Exceltek XB is cool ! Yeah, I have seen the non-TI XB carts go for a clam or more. fwiw your BurgerTime, Return to Pirates Isle, Exceltec XB and Donkey Kong carts are a little bit harder to find on ebay (as an example)- when i was trawling for carts this year those were ones i had a harder time getting. i think 2-5 dollars for the other carts and probably 10-15 for those 3 would be pretty reasonable. on the XB I've no clue but maybe $20? I had three copies of BurgerTime at one time, two of which were in-box (though probably not the original boxes.) The big problem with selling low-dollar items on eBay these days is the 10% eBay takes of the entire sale, including shipping, then the 2.9% PayPal takes for the transaction. Almost make selling onesies and twosies not worth it, which is where places like the AtariAge Marketplace forum or AmiBay, etc., come into play.

Paypal has been holding payments until the item arrives plus a day or two... which magically puts it on the weekend and I don't see the money until Tuesday. So almost 2 weeks after the sale. I've had paypal and ebay accounts since 2002.

The only transaction that wasn't already sniped the moment it shows up by one of the regulars and was able to get, I ended up sending a PS3 all the way to Florida then having to pay for it to be shipped back to me because the other party changed his mind and decided to keep his A1200... I had better success here.

I understand that it's to prevent the old "sell and disappear" act that some were doing, but it does penalise the honest trader. Personnaly, I don't sell on eBay as a business or to make cash. I mostly sell stuff I don't want anymore to buy other stuff on eBay. I would gladly accept a system where if you want to cash out you have to wait, but if you want to buy stuff on eBay then you have immediate access to your funds. +Ksarul #13 Posted December 20, 2017 The most expensive one you have there is the Exceltek XB cartridge. They tend to go for between $20 and $30. Sometimes you can get more, but that's about the norm. The prices you've been given on the others are about right too. I tend to buy common cartridges in black cases for about $3 each, shipped, as my upper limit--and I buy a lot of them that way for homebrew cartridge assembly. Sometimes I get lucky and get them for less than a dollar each, but not often.
