non working copies of summer games ii.

Recommended Posts

I have two commerical versions of summer games ii in which some events don't work. One copy only kayaking will not load. One the copy I got today Equestrian loads with garbled graphics and cycling won't load at all. Can either of these be fixed?

Only maybe, but troubleshooting will be a bit in-depth. You might just be better off finding a copy through various sources available and making new disks.

If I recall correctly, Summer Games 1 was so crash prone that Epyx would gather a cracked, fixed version of that game for the re-release. I don't know if the same was true about Summer Games 2, but it wouldn't surprise me if crackers managed to patch the bugs.

I think one or two bugs were fixed for the US Gold release of SG2 in Europe. But I've never had issue running either SG or SG2 originals here.

I remember that SG1 was out of stock for a while before it got re-released at full price in c:a 1986-87, several years after its prime, and then quickly went on budget after that. I suppose the re-release was somewhat bug fixed, and yet more fixes were done for the Gold Silver Bronze release a few years later.

Arnold's C64 FTP site has originals in G64 format, if you have equipment capable of writing those. I don't know if the disks contain any meta data beyond what a D64 holds.
