VicViper #1 Posted January 3, 2018 My outer shell for my Bread Box C64 has some damage, any good source for replacements? found some kind of kickstarter for colored shells, but they don't look available anymore.
carlsson #2 Posted January 3, 2018 (edited) I think some other people on the forum bought from this source, or a similar one. However those are C64C shells in various colours. Your motherboard will fit a C64C shell, but it won't be a breadbin anymore. https://shop.pixelwizard.eu/commodore-c64/ Of course you could try to find a broken C64 with intact shell, in case that is easier or cheaper these days when people seem to be asking $$$ for just a screw. +OLD CS1 #3 Posted January 3, 2018 You know, that reminds me. I am still waiting for my new C64 key-caps along with my SX64-themed case. @VicViper: I have a few bread-bin 64s sitting around here. If you do not mind cleaning one up, I will pull the innards out and send you the case. Just cover the shipping.

jjh76 #5 Posted January 6, 2018 How much damage is there? Is it just cracked or are there pieces broken off completely?
VicViper #6 Posted January 6, 2018 How much damage is there? Is it just cracked or are there pieces broken off completely? NAsty brown color, piece on the back is broke off.
jjh76 #7 Posted January 7, 2018 Where exactly did it break off from, and do you still have the pieces? If it's not too bad you might be able to stick it back together with some acetone - just use a q-tip to brush some on the edges and then hold the pieces together, being careful not to get any on the outside of the case as it will melt it. I did this with one of mine that was starting to crack at one corner of the keyboard and now there's just a barely visible line where the crack was. If you've got some old broken toy or something made from ABS then you can cut small pieces from it and stick it on the inside for reinforcement (if there's room for it where the break occurred) As for the color, there's always retrobright but I haven't tried it myself yet so can't really give any advice on that
