Mitch Orman kindly sent me 3 different 7800s for compatibility testing and the XM has worked the same across the 84 April Rev 0001, the June Rev 0002, the 86 rerelease 002's and the 86 modified 002's and the 87-92 NTSC/PAL versions and the Secam Daughterboard version... so it looks like there wont be issues with the different rev's and the XM's

Also, you were only walking the entire time. The Difficulty Switches impact the controls for the game. For a familiar 'SMB scheme', ensure... P1/Left Difficulty Switch is set to the Right/A Position. P2/Right Difficulty Switch is set to the Left/B Position. ...prior to starting up the game. The above maps: Button 1 = Run (When held) & Shoot (When tapped) Button 2 = Jump

I have only played this game twice and I didn't know the settings and controls at all.... I tried looking for the manual but didn't immediately see it anywhere so I figured I'd wing it and just see what happened I was on a CX-40, there is a short in my CX24, I need to put it on the bench and fix it. its my original from '84 when I got an early release console, so its been VERY heavily used these past 34 years. See if a Modern controller ever lasts that long

See if a Modern controller ever lasts that long For the CX-40, set both Difficulty Switches to the Left prior to starting up the game. It will result in Up for Jump and the Fire button Run/Shoot. You need to press the Reset button to start the game though, as pressing the fire button to start will not work.

SearsRoebuck
This may sound like a dumb question, but since the preorders have long since sailed, and the number being put in the Atari Age store afterwards is 500, what about after that? Seems like a ton of work, but I hope it is available in the future. If a new set of preorders were available I would buy one, but it worries me that they'll all sell out and I have to hunt for a second hand one. I intentionally bought a non Pokey Froggie holding out for the XM unit, would hate to be disappointed and never get one.

This particular sub-class of Atari enthusiast (7800) is pretty small, and 500 sounds like plenty of units. I've been in and out of this scene for years, and I don't remember any 7800 specific homebrew game or product selling more than 200-250 units in total. Hence why I hope a new round of pre-orders are opened up at some point - though from looking at this thread, it looks like there are some that go back to 2011. I'll have the $$$$ in hand for it when that happens, sudden appearances in the Atari Age store, well, who knows if I have a spare 150 around then. If any game sold more than 500 units, it was probably Pacman Collection. I'll have 3 copies once I get the loot from Albert: The original thick dot TIA version, the PMP multicart, and a shiny new Pokey enabled Pacman cart. Edit: I may sell my gently used loose TIA copy at a later date.

Curt Vendel
I'm not sure it'll go past 500... if it really does go higher than that, I would look into running more plastics and nameplates for these. I think 500 total units is a safe area. This may sound like a dumb question, but since the preorders have long since sailed, and the number being put in the Atari Age store afterwards is 500, what about after that? Curt Vendel
We are edging closer and close to completion.... here is a full blown test of the XEGS keyboard port. Michael St. Pierre (MYTEK) was super nice to send me one of his VERY COOL XEGS to PS/2 keyboard adapters... so I first powered up to make sure there were no issues with the fully connect Keyboard port, then I plugged in his adapter, connected an IBM PS/2 keyboard to the Adapter and powered up the 7800XM and did a full test. Michael will have to let me and every know what the keyboard mapping limitations are - some keys just brought up a question mark, but all of the alpha and numeric keys worked great. So here is the testing video: 7800XM-XEGStest.mp4

I look forward to seeing CurtWord and CurtTerm! ..Al Hmmmmm.... yeah, I think calling them XM Word and XM Term would be a much better way to go Be great to see Zork and some graphical adventures done on the 7800XM, I wonder if it would be possible to use the XM High Score feature as a game save and be able to save where a player is so that in a long game like that you could save, turn off the 7800 and come back at a later time to continue playing where you left off? hmmmmmmm..... 7800 Definitely needs Star Raiders for it :-)

IIRC Bob rolled his own code for HSC raw access too. It's definitely possible. Agreed on Star Raiders!

+Allan
It would be nice to see Bill Wilkinson's Basic modified to work with this keyboard. It would also be cool to convert Adventure International's Pirate Adventure from the source code that was published in Byte magazine.
