MrsMegaManFan #1 Posted May 28, 2003 MMF just got his new Nomad in the mail today - but we need to know if it works with the regular adapter for the 16-bit Genesis. He's afraid of burning it out.
chrisbid #2 Posted May 28, 2003 the nomad works with the AC adapter from the model 2 and 3 Genesis (the one with the yellow tip). It also works with the same AC adapter as a game gear if you have one of those handy
Chickybaby #3 Posted May 28, 2003 Also you can use the rechargable battery pack for the game gear as well - it's clips on to your belt and plugs in to the game gear a/c adapter to re-charge. I love my nomad but it is a major battery hog, so having a rechargable battery is great!
Brad2600 #4 Posted May 28, 2003 I would like to find a Nomad someday, along with a Sega CD and a 32X. All I have now is a Genesis. Might end up selling it to pay bills and then buy another later on with hopefully 32x,SegaCD or Nomad included just to have a complete Hardware collection. MrsMegaManFan #5 Posted May 28, 2003 Thanks for the suggestions - the nomad works just fine with the GG adapter. New question: He put in the game "Mega Man - The Wily Wars" and the screen flashed a warning (something about PAL, SECAM and the Mega Drive). He knew it was a European game, but thought it work on a Nomad. Any way to get around the warning screen?
MegaManFan #6 Posted May 28, 2003 Yeah. I thought that the Nomad could play Mega Drive games. I guess not. Fooey.
Brad2600 #7 Posted May 28, 2003 Is there a such thing as a Nomad that does play Mega Drive games? There must be a conversion kit out there somewhere. Have you tried looking for one yet? I can imagine that there must be a way to do this.

Well if you are going for complete why not just get a CDX and a 32X, takes up alot less space
Brad2600 #9 Posted May 28, 2003 I might look for that someday. Right now, I'm not very interested in my Genesis as much as I am in the Atari stuff I got right now. I really prefer 8 bit games over 16 bit games right now. I still need to repair one of my NES systems. I got games lying around that have not been tested. z28in82 #10 Posted May 28, 2003 if you need parts let me know I have two shoeboxes just kinda lying around in parts. Got the toploaders and just scrapped the shoeboxes
MegaManFan #11 Posted May 28, 2003 I guess what I really need is a Mega Key, but every time I see one on eBay, it gets pulled.
z28in82 #12 Posted May 28, 2003 Well not that I spend much time on epay but I'll keep it on the look out list for ya
Mendon #13 Posted May 28, 2003 I might be wrong but I don't believe that the 32X works with a CDX; at least that's what I've been told. What I'm curious about is if the SMS converter works with the CDX. I saw one mint at a flea market over the weekend for $15 and almost bought it but decided against it as it might not work. Anyone know? Mendon
z28in82 #14 Posted May 28, 2003 I might be wrong but I don't believe that the 32X works with a CDX; at least that's what I've been told. The official answer to the best of my knowledge is NO, but I have heard stories as to how people got it to work by adding a spacer of some sort. Didn't pay it too much mind since I can't see droppin over $100 for a CDX, when I love my Genesis II with Side Cd and 32X set up. It just looks so mean and buff. Bigger than anyother system floatin around my house
V.R #15 Posted May 28, 2003 The Nomad does play Mega Drive games, but not all of them. Don't know why! Most of mine play, but some of the better ones don't, depends on the publisher. There is a site called gamesx, it tells you how to modify your nomad so it will play any game. Good luck. Anyone try the 32x with the Nomad?
jsoper #16 Posted May 28, 2003 My cdx works fine with my 32x and power base converter, the only problem is the setups are so ugly they hurt your eyes
Cassidy Nolen #17 Posted May 28, 2003 I have my 32X in my CDX too. Works fine. It is really ugly, that is for sure. I have also used my Master adapter in my CDX and it worked fine. Never tried to connect the Master into the 32X into the CDX. That could change the earth's rotation. Or at least make an eyesore Cassidy

MegaManFan #19 Posted May 28, 2003 There is a site called gamesx, it tells you how to modify your nomad so it will play any game. Good luck. Eeek. After the amount of money I spent on this thing, the thought of opening it up to mod it just scares me. I'd hate to have a working Nomad and kill it just for the purpose of playing Wily Wars - I'm desperate to try it but not THAT desperate!

Hydian #21 Posted May 28, 2003 MMF: Lik Sang has an adapter that *should* work in the nomad http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=...oducts_id=3033& For $10, I might pick one up myself even though I don't have any megadrive games yet.
z28in82 #22 Posted May 28, 2003 Actually the link at the bottom of the page list game with a territory lock out that the product is no help for and MM : Wiley Wars is one of them http://image.lik-sang.com/content/genesis_lockout.txt
MegaManFan #23 Posted May 28, 2003 D'oh! Where's a good European Mega Key when you need one? :(
chrisbid #24 Posted May 28, 2003 have you tried a game genie?
MegaManFan #25 Posted May 29, 2003 have you tried a game genie? A Game Genie in a Nomad? No. Not on Genesis either. Actually I was afraid that because it was programmable, it might mess up the battery backed save state, if it even allowed the game to work at all. That's why I was looking for a simple pass through device like a Mega Key. Plugging a Genie plus a cart into a Nomad would be hella unwieldy, but I +might+ try a Genie on Genesis if I was reasonably confidant it wouldn't f' up my Wily Wars. I know I seem mildly paranoid about this, but I spent $117 on it so I don't take too many chances.
