Yeah, maybe tidbits like that should be edited or removed as we know better now.

 

Might be better to say "it was rumored", but we know better now that programmers have come forward and explained how management wanted them to squeeze so much into 4k due to chip prices and/or availability, impossible deadlines, took liberties with design, didn't have the resources and tools they do today, etc.

I always thought the "intentionally crippled" argument was spurious at best.
