Some people lift one side or the other and then they may or may not experience noise issues depending on the environment they live in and if shield is put back on or not... Although clipping of the sio caps has been posted all over the forum and users groups for the last 30 or so years... I'm glad it's been resolved.... Seeemd the machine had a serious issue with the SIO2SD and I decided to take Lotharek as an authority. I tried several max speed settings with no luck. Here's a quote from the 1986 Happy 1050 Rev 7 Users manual... "...the fix that most often solves the problem is to remove all capacitors inside the personal computer that connect the SERIAL OUTPUT DATA (pin 5 of the I/O connector) to ground..." Although personally I never had to remove the caps inside the computer in the past as my Happy's worked fine, but these newer devices can run way faster than the happy ever could, making the mod more necessary.
