TandyVision
I am sure many of you have worn or missing controller disc inlays. Being that it's just a circle I assume someone has come up with a solution before I reinvent the wheel over here. care to share your solutions? Humblejack
I have been wondering the same thing. I had about a dozen new ones but they are all gone. The ones from the original parts list come installed on the disc instead of being a replacement for just the disc inlay. No solution but would be interested in helping find one. TandyVision
I measure 34mm
Humblejack
I measure 34mm Hmmmm... is that about 1 3/8 inches to us (as Cmart put it... Muricans)
+LS650
Hmmmm... is that about 1 3/8 inches to us (as Cmart put it... Muricans) According to Google... 34 mm is 1.33858 inches, while 1 and 3/8 is exactly 1.375 So actually no, though ~0.04 might not be enough to be worrisome. TandyVision
I live in the US, there is no direct equivalent of that size. We're the dummies who still use fractions. Closest size would be 1- 21/64" doubt you'll have any luck finding that.

TandyVision
That would be 35mm and would be too big. There's a lip that the overlay needs to fit within. I think I'm going to punch some copper and test fit it

toddtmw
Seems like a perfect use for a 3-D printer. If someone can send me or post pictures with measurements (preferred millimeters) I could take a shot at it. But I do not have (nor have I ever had) an intellivision. TandyVision
I thought about 3D printing some but figured it would look like a checker on there. I'm going to try copper and aluminum to see how they look.
toddtmw
Why? How thick are they?
TandyVision
Probably 2mm I'll check this weekend
toddtmw
I mean, I have no idea what they look like of the controller. What holds them on?
TandyVision
You don't have an Intellivision? Look at the first post, it's just a circle about 1mm thick x 34mm.
toddtmw
I do not. But what holds the circle on?

+JasonlikesINTV
I do not. But what holds the circle on?The disc itself is a plastic disc that would likely be a decent candidate for 3D printing, but the original disc typically holds up pretty well. The gold plate that is glued onto it is ~1mm × 34mm and sometimes falls off, gets peeled off, or degrades. They're trying to find a replacement for the gold disc, preferably more true to the original vs merely functional. IMBerzerk
The disc is made of very thin brass pot metal with a plastic/clear vinyl covering for protection, similar to house stereo and car radio dials from the same era. Quite possible a car restoration or automotive interior remanufacting company might be able to help or give advice on how to make new ones. My guess is these came in a sheet, were die cut individually, spun with a brush for the effect, then sprayed with clear and adhesive. Considering there is a ton of money being made in old cars and restoration of old toys and such, there has to be someone out there making these. Problem is cost to produce. +LS650
What I'd like is a replacement for the gold inlay pieces on the console itself. I imagine they might be prohibitivly expensive to make, though.
TandyVision
I have a solution. I am waiting on the 34mm die to come in and will be able to punch out a perfect sized circle. I'll post an update once I have it
TandyVision
34mm it is. I'll try to get a better pic later of how they look.... Okay what's the deal with posting images here? +LS650
What extension are your file attachments? I usually upload .jpg format and it has never been a problem.
