Atari 520 ST video issue

Does anybody have any idea what is the problem with this 520 ST (not M)?

Not yet - but if everything else fails I'll do that. It'll be more than 4'' though

This actually worked for me today.. Had a similar screen.. was shocked that it worked.

Probably loose chips/connections then. 
 

Best to go ahead, open it up, and check everything.
