Machine
Just got mine today. Mine is Number 171 out of 1500 Backer Edition. I'm powering it up now, looks pretty cool.
Machine
I actually am pretty happy with this over all. Seems to play better than expected! https://www.facebook.com/tom.martin.712714/videos/2544222718927440/ Edited February 2, 2019 by Machine
negative1
glens review wasn't as optimistic, there was lag, and the dial control didn't work well: later -
Zoyous
I think considering the small size, the rotary not being a true "spinner" is understandable - I'm not sure how they could scale it down and still have enough weight to have that kind of inertia. But the issue with the lag is a dealbreaker - hopefully they can get that sorted out with a firmware update.
Keatah
You fix the spinner issue/feel with a multiplying gear. Spin a smaller weight faster. Of course that would cost more.
mckafka99
I received mine yesterday. Very nice looking. Game play is pretty decent, the tiny lag' doesnt bother me too much but the 'drift' component does irk me. If I stop moving the spinner, I expect the claw to stop immediately. This 'drift' feature is really something I wish they had included only as an 'option' that could be enabled/disabled.
+DamonicFury
Fairly happy with mine. Yeah, the spinner could be a bit nicer (the 'clickiness' isn't a welcome addition) and I kind of wish the resolution was higher. But it does look and play pretty well... I've certainly been enjoying it!
Keatah
The lag. I could even see the lag in the youtube reviews.
Zoyous
Apparently there's a firmware update coming soon that will address the "simulated inertia." I'm not a KS backer so I don't know if they've sent out emails regarding this, but they've mentioned it in the comments on the KS page. Machine
Has anyone done the update yet? How well does the update work?
mckafka99
I am happy with the update. It eliminates that 'drift' feature and for me, makes the play-ability much, much better.
Clint Thompson
I stumbled upon this after seeing LGR do an unboxing on YouTube and went straight over and ordered. Then found this thread lol but, since they are limited edition I'm glad I have it coming regardless. I doubt I'll not like it enough to keep it since I'll most likely never afford the space to have a real full-size machine anytime in the near future, let alone find one for an affordable price. $99 with free shipping. Does anyone know anything about the battery draining on the Tempest machine or not? I guess I should have looked into it more carefully but it seemed like a no-brainer,... not even sure if there's a direct outlet plug-in. I'm guessing not. Zoyous
From what I've heard, it doesn't have the same battery draining problem that the Centipede cabinet had (that one got a firmware update - you can order a free kit for it). They charge through a mini USB port.

Zoyous
Sure thing! I'm looking forward to Dragon's Lair and Asteroids. But they seem like they might be getting behind schedule as they're still working on Street Fighter.
