luckybuck
Hi together! Recently, there was on ebay WORKING WITH FRACTIONS MF from Dorsett: sadly, because I live in poverty, I couldn't bid enough. I contacted the seller and beged him to forward some info to the buyer. Up to now, no response. This package seems to be ultra rare, way beyond the Rarity 10 ranking. It wasn't even on the radar: https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Dorsett%20Educational%20System%20Lesson%20Cassettes Therefore, I would like to ask the community, whether someone is in the possession of this package and may give the community the chance to just digitize it? I would really like to add the package to the others. Thank you very much in advance, your help is very much appreciated. :-)

luckybuck
Claus, you did see the emoticon at the end and know the meaning of it? :-) Further, I mean, a full backup reagarding Atari, not only Dorsett. That includes your huge knowledge, which is desperately needed, even today. Edited February 16, 2018 by luckybuck
+Stephen
Yes, absolutely, because civilization would be ruined without Dorsett's Working with Fractions. 2/3rds of the world may agree with you, but the other un-educated 1/3rd have no clue WTF we are even talking about

luckybuck
:-) Claus, I didn't believe it by myself, maybe I am already too old, but in Finnland, they no longer teach writing! Maybe, that is why they have Alexa and the fingerprint-system.... We will see, what the futures brings... Have a good weekend. :-)
Savetz
I found a previously unknown list of Dorsett courses for the Atari. Most have been preserved! It turns out that 6 courses are not yet. We still need: Fl - fluid power systems CL - great classics Mf - Math/Fractions 4-8 Vm - vocational math AdP - adult phonics (this one is TWO sets of 8 tapes) En - Energy and environment (this was “to be released” so who knows, might not have actually been released.) If you have any of these, please speak up. -Kevin

luckybuck
Kevin, you are a miracle! Thank you sooooooooooo much, really. Once a big fish from Abbuc asked me, what to do, when we are at 100 % in digitizing? You already answered that question... :-) Thank you! :-)

I would really like to add the package to the others. Thank you very much in advance, your help is very much appreciated. :-) I need more time reading, and less time chasing kids. Turns out I *have* the Mf you speak of, in the blue binder, but it's incomplete. Eight tapes, sixteen quizzes, but two of the Dorsett "Practice Folders" are missing. Still, I'm in touch with Kevin; sorry it's a partial, but hey, right more tapes, right?
luckybuck
John, you really made Kevin's and my day! :-) Yes, that is exactly the way things are running in preservation. We have have even tapes, where only a 1/3 is just o. k. Luckily, we found 3 different countries in Europe, who have exact the 1/3 part, which is o. k.. So, only in combining all findings togther, we rebuild them all. :-) Same with a ACTION! disk and much more. But, please 1st the kids, long, long nothing and then Atari. Just because, we need kids who keep Atari great again. :-) If Kevin has it, everything is in the best hands. Thank you so much John, you are a great help! I hope to see the day, when 100 % is restored. Users like you make these dreams come true. All the best.

Savetz
Yes. The Atari version of Great Classics has been preserved. Savetz
Hey gang. We still need to find and digitize Dorsett Educational Systems cassettes. Most are sets of 8 tapes. Fl - fluid power systems CL - great classics Mf - Math/Fractions 4-8 got it https://archive.org/details/DorsettAtariFractions Vm - vocational math AdP - adult phonics (this one is TWO sets of 8 tapes) En - Energy and environment (this was “to be released” so who knows, might not have actually been released.) If you have any of these, please speak up. -Kay 4
www.atarimania.com
It seems VM - Vocational Math is also called VM - Selected Mathematics. It takes different cassettes from the MF / MG / MP / MR series to make a 16-tape package. Also, there are two items not listed on the page: Language Arts - Reading Development - K-1 on 14 tapes (not 16) which is actually the continuation of the T series (code: TT) Basic Army Skills (reference: AR)
Savetz
Do you know for sure that TT and AR were released in Atari versions? I have no reason do doubt you, but want to be sure because not all sets were released for all platforms.
_The Doctor__
I'd have little doubt about BAS (ref:AR) as a general release.. since the Army did use Atari's to control laserdisc presentations for recruitment/entrance/training. I'd be even more interested in possible internal smart book implementations on the Atari's that may have been in use by the military.
luckybuck
What confuses me: Missing list on the Wiki: — •) Desperate call for help on missing Dorsett tapes Some tapes had severe damage and therefore couldn't be digitized. If anyone is in the possession of the following tapes, please give us a message or a post here. We really need your help and appreciate just any hint on the programs, who seem to be lost in time, like tears in rain. The left ones to digitize are as follows: - General Shop Practices: Oa1 Tool Identification Lesson, Part 1 Oa7 Discussion of a Two-Cycle Engine Oa8 Use of Micrometers and Calipers - Health Services Career: Hc5 Medical History Hc6 Extended Care - Physics: Ph16 Theory of Relativity Well, concerning Physics, we may can restore Ph16 from the Atari-Version of that course, Physics CX6008? Just loud thinking... — and then the list above: — Fl - fluid power systems CL - great classics Mf - Math/Fractions 4-8 got it https://archive.org/details/DorsettAtariFractions Vm - vocational math AdP - adult phonics (this one is TWO sets of 8 tapes) En - Energy and environment (this was “to be released” so who knows, might not have actually been released.) — from which we may have: CL - great classics https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Great%20Classics%20CX6009 But the short then would be: GC not CL… All the others are in no list either of Dorsett nor Atari itself. So where is the source for this? Anway great found and work! Please go ahead! :-)))
