most 1n5 schottky variants are fine..

some have used 1n9's

1n4's shouldn't be used at all but I see it's still listed on the git and other sites.... somebody's gotta tell them all to change that... this goes on forever because everybody uses the cheap I got a million of em 1n4's then you have it work with this and not with that deal....

Is this offer for anyone willing to send you an SIO cable. I have just about given up on getting the UNO + Screen combo that works together..

Hehe, sorry, I'm afraid not. ijor is a long-time contributor to our preservation project and the author of the ATX specification. I'd send it to him for free if I could - I just don't know how to easily get my hands on an SIO cable :-P

Here are the parts I ordered for my last one and it worked fine:

Have you considered 3D printing the Molex connector? I did that for an sio2pi cable, and while not as good as an original, it does work. I used the power clips from a broken ATX power supply, but you can get the clips (?) for a fairly low price, though you really need (access to) a crimping tool. Have ordered parts for making an SD-drive max from AliExpress, so will try and write up a step by step when they (eventually) arrive.

Lotharek has ready made SIO cables for sale. Cut one in two and you have two cables for Sdrive-Max.

I would be willing to build a batch of 10 or 20 or so if there is enough interest.

I'd use EXACTLY the same parts like Farm quotes as I too have build two units with these parts and they work perfectly.

I would charge a very small fee per unit for the service (think 5 euro per unit) (which is mostly for the handling of ordering materials, and soldering the wires as "assembly" is not the correct word for putting the LCD display on the Arduino UNO ;)

Naturally it would come with the latest firmware flashed.

[EDIT] I just noticed that Lotharek even sells half SIO cables with just the 5 wires needed for Strive-Max.... :D

Lotharek still sels SIO cables, you can cut them in two ;)

Sadly I (or Rewind Games) don't have any spare cables anymore. I have some Microprint interfaces left, that SIO cable can be used, but Lothareks cables are cheaper (and you can make 2 SDrive Max interfaces)

Both Level42 and I have Uno's and screens from Aliexpress, like the ones Farb is showing, and they work great! Such a small investment (we bought them for about 12 dollars) for such a great device. I am almost :D sorry to say that my expensive Sio2sd I bought from Lotharek will not be used much anymore :D

edit: Level42 and I were replying at the same time without knowing it ;)

DIODE ROLL CALL!

list what you used on what machine and how it works on the sio chain with both drive and sio2sd and other devices present and in operation for

1n5's

1n9's

and BAT type schottky diodes

I run a full sio chain of 8 drive, rs232, cassette, sio2sd and sdrive. edit oh and a sio2pc(usb). Everything ran at highest speed they could without issue after weeding out bad sio cables and getting rid of 1n4's on some of them.

wondering how many devices online and speeds achieved, I of course found 3 sio cables that were not up to the challenge. they made signal or voltage weak for some reason.

let us know what exact ones you used and how it behaved with your daisy chain.

You talked me into getting 2 of each.

A quick update: I implemented the 810 firmware retry logic and that has further improved compatibility. Of the 100 ATX images I test with, 100% are working. I will need to expand the images I test with now :-D

These changes should be in the next release of the firmware.

um you can load a 16mb atr partition I think, so what would pclink do? Just make 8 16mb or so partitions and put your fav. pclink compatibl DOS on it and have a party... unless your going for a big ole sd card sio drive with pclink as a window to whole thing all at once..
