Sorry to bother you all, because maybe this question is answered already, but i couldn't find it. I ordered (by mistake) another board that does not com with Arduino connectors ? I was to busy selecting a screen with ILI9341 chipset.

Can i use this board with de SD drive max project? I found this webpage describing the connection: https://educ8s.tv/arduino-2-8-ili9341-tutorial/

Pictures of my board:

Hello.
I dug up my old XEGS Atari. I built the Sdrive-MAX. looks like it works. But I have a problem. does not load sdrive.atr and other files. I've tried everything. I checked the connections, even with a meter, I bought 2 arduino boards, I bought another card, I tried other files. I marked 1050 options in config etc.
interestingly, CAS files are loaded. it takes the same amount of time as with a real tape recorder. so I assume it works. power supply from atari and usb (not all at once). when I turn on the atari and "farts" I see that the TX diode is flashing quickly on the arduino board .
what am i doing wrong, how to fix it.
Regards Greg

https://www.atarimagazines.com/v7n4/firstlook.html

almost the bottom and you can read about the manager

further down are the files

there are other such xegs goodies littered around AA but many years back if doing a search.

the pictures of you stuff  and sdrive working are nice..

but we need to see the different setting for when it is not working...

to get the menu you need BOOT D0: selected on sdrive main screen or set to boot it in the cfg screen

https://atari8bit.net/tutorials/de-re-sdrive-max/

scroll down and you will find a good manual

also consider XEGS upgrades like...

or u1m

Hi everyone:

A very new member to AtariAge but an avid vintage collector.  I recently added an Atari 800 and 400 to my collection and started looking for storage options.  I plan on building a SDrive-MAX and could use some advice.

1) In the instructions on Atari8Bit.net there are several Arduinos identified from bad to best.  As you know there are soooooooo many Arduino clones out there.  How do you guys identify the "best-duinos"?

2) It looks like the gerbers for the UNO2SIO board are no longer available form the link (404 error).  Are those files available here?

Apologies for the nube questions.

Thanks for the help.

Mark

Yeah sorry, my website is going through a change phase at the moment and some files are offline but other projects are keeping me from getting it finished. The UNO2SIO board gerbers will be available when I get the changes I'm making done.

If you look at the picture of the bestduino in the area where the UNO2SIO board is attached and compare that to the wiring diagrams I drew, you can see what the important bits are. All of the badduinos do not have easy connection to the SIO and the goodduinos do but they limit the amount of space on the board in that area. The bestduino has all the right connection points and very little standing tall on the board where the UNO2SIO is attached.

Does anyone know if I could use a 74LS06 Inverter Buffer by sending the signals through two of the buffers for each signal, instead of the 74LS07?  I happen to have 74LS06s and no 74LS07s.  I figure it should work unless it causes a delay that would be a problem for timings.  Thanks

Really enjoying my S-Drive MAX!

I'm having a problem seeing the files that I loaded to the corresponding ATR, CAS & XEX folders with the correct extensions.

I see them on my PC but not while using it on my 800XL.
The files I have are rather long & contain ().  For example:  Beach Head II - The Dictator Strikes Back (USA).atr

The S-Drive MAX Uses 16bit (8 character) filename lengths?  Not sure if this is causing them not to show up & possibly the - or the ()

Any help appreciated

Caveat: There are other people more qualified than me to answer that. I am answering only because nobody else did.

You can't connect a 7406 output directly to another input, not without a pull up, because this chip is open collector. But then, with two pullups in series on the same signal you might have difficulties finding a good compromise between speed (stronger pullup resistors) and lower power consumption (weaker resistors).

Did you turn on long file names by pressing Ctrl-L? That will show the long file name at the bottom of the screen.

I think you have to press Ctrl-W to save your change.

On the touch screen, I think the long file name shows at the bottom of the touch screen by default.

Thanks Bob,

will try that out!

Happy to help another Sdrive Max owner.

I highly recommend this website:

https://atari8bit.net/tutorials/de-re-sdrive-max/#using

I took you directly to the using section since you don’t need to know how to build it. I found lots of useful information there.

Thanks Bob love the brewing academy.  Was really looking forward to getting the Multicart but appears an IC needed for it cannot be found atm.

So I went ahead and bought the S-drive max and really liking it :D

I have the Ultimate Cart. I use it for all of my XEX and cartridge images. However, if I was buying a multi-cart today, I’d look seriously at the AVG Cart (https://avgcart.tmp.sk). It has more features than the Ultimate and has more firmware updates happening for it. I don’t know if @tmp has the same problems getting the necessary chip for his cart as the Brewing Academy.

I can’t justify buying it when I already own the Ultimate.

Thanks so much for compiling the 1.3b firmware. It works great on my Sdrive Max. I am not sure if kbr will be producing another firmware so it is nice to receive the last fixes.
