As noted in the video, the pedals look like they're not very robust. The cable seemed to be a 3.5mm audio cable so you could easily extend it with a female to male cable and mod this to be a stand-up cabinet on a riser. The host didn't play the games much, but from what I can see, it looks like the wheel provides fairly precise control. And there's a micro-USB on the PCB... personally, I expect it allows for linking cabinets to play Outrunners multiplayer, but we don't know for sure yet.

Micro USB allows for firmware updates, its how they fixed Super Pac-Man, haven't heard any plans for link play.

They dropped the ball with the wheel in my opinion by not including any motion / force feedback, doesn't really replicate the arcade experience without it.

Doesn't make sense, they nailed the Star Wars cab and nothing else is going to use that yoke.  A functional, force feedback/ rumble wheel could be used on multiple driving cabinets.

Not sure how they can justify that price without it.

Yeah, I agree. Maybe it'll be in the next (upright) version? After observing this product line for a couple of years, it seems to me that it usually pays to wait for a later version.

Personally, I can't stand force feedback, and vibration, and always turn it off, its annoying and gimmicky.

Also, it wasn't force feedback in the original, it was just vibration apparently.

The wear and tear, and the added cost make it impractible, especially with the expensive cost of it.

The cabinet is almost sold out, and I'm sure the standup will sell very well too.

Vibration, force feedback- the wheel moved, that's my point.  Remember: arcade experience, that's what they're selling.

Wear / tear, added cost, expensive?  It's a $499 cab, should we break down how they justify that?

It's not for me anyway, but that would have been a deal breaker.

it's not hard to mod these things. so throw in your own steering wheel, and add it and pedals. done.

if you think they're selling the 'arcade' experience, you must have missed the memo, they're not even close.

maybe the 'star war's one got near, and possible NBA JAM, but most of the other ones, have been huge misses.

so i don't know where you got that idea from. if you think they're going to put in premium parts and add on

gimmicky features (Which they do, like LED backiighting, deck lighting, and front faceplates), people like that

more than actual gameplay.

the vast majority of people look at these with nostalgia goggles, build their mancaves to show them off, and

play them once a blue moon (or maybe at the beginning), but move onto the next thing, like pinball, or big

buck hunter.

if you actually want to master and play these games, you need to mod and fix them up yourself, because

you sure arent' getting it from them.

Agree with the reviewer on the 1p being the far left side.  That's a big negative, hope they fix that.  Past that everything looks really good.

Also agree with the reviewer on Wrestle War.  With Sega's catalogue, that is a strange choice.

I have modded my Pac-Man gen 1, to use the Arcade 1up Pac-Man 10-1 HDMI plug and play:

==========================================================

Arcade 1up - Hybrid system
==================================================
arcade 1up - 10-1 HDMI plug and play - Pac-Man

Goal - Use it in 3/4 Stand up Pac-Man GEN 1

===========================================
Time to completion, about 1 hour.

Now, I can switch easily back and forth with this 10-1
featuring many exclusive games, that are usually on the
partycade, and a few that haven't even been on any standup.

Additionally, i could swap out with Atgames blast, but it
only has wireless controls.

Difficulty level of Mod : Beginner.

Rationale:
=========================================
Reuse    - Arcade 1up plug and play unit

Controls - Superior USB Joystick over wireless gamepad

Graphics - Using LDVS adapter - can control Brightness,
           Contrast, Gamma

Aspect ratio - 4:3, fullscreen, zoom

Volume  - Full 0-100 internal, and external volume
        - Stereo Sound

Price - Much cheaper than getting a partycade

Simplicity - No drilling, soldering needed, only unscrewing
             a few screws.
================================================

games: Comparison with Atgames Arcade Blast
and Arcade 1up Pac-man 8-1 Partycade
=====================================
Namco Arcade Blast
===============================
Pac-Man                 - on 8-1
Galaga                  - on 8-1
Galaxian                - on 8-1, standup
Dig Dug                 - on 8-1, standup
Mappy                   - on 8-1, standup
Pacmania                - on 8-1, standup
New Rally-X             - on A1up HDMI
Sky Kid                 - Exclusive
Tower of Druaga         - Exclusive
Xevious                 - Exclusive

Arcade 1up pac-man HDMI
================================
Pac-Man                 - on 8-1, standup, Namco Blast
Galaga                  - on 8-1, standup, Namco Blast
Dig Dug                 - on 8-1, standup, Namco Blast
mappy                   - on 8-1, Namco Blast
Pac-Mania               - on standup, Namco Blast
New rally-x             - Namco Blast
Galaga 88               - Exclusive
rolling thunder         - Exclusive
super xevious           - Exclusive
Dragon Spirit           - Exclusive
===================================

Quick and Easy 10-1 Mod to Arcade 1up
-------------------------------------
I had the Pac-Man Gen 1 3/4 cabinet.

parts needed
------------
LDVS HDMI adapter
USB Joystick (Used Mayflash arcade stick)
External Stereo Speakers
Various HDMI,USB cables
Power adapter for LDVS
Power adapter for Pac-Man plug n play

Cost
-------
$20 LDVS adapter
$50 USB Joystick
$50 Pac-Man plug and play
----
$120

Steps and Disassembly
===============================
A) You only need to loosen the screws on the size
holding the marquee an top parts in.

B) Also you only need to remove the 8 screws on the
brackets inside holding the monitor and bezel.

Rotate the bezel with monitor attached
===========================================
1) I did not fix my cabinet completely, when rotating the monitor.
To do it properly you should get a proper horizontal bezel. I just
rotated mine, in the slot, and used the screws, and the control
panel to keep it together.

If you try to force it, you will notice it is about 2 inches wider
than it needs to fit. Also the top panels and marquee will not
stay in place either.

Attach the LDVS adapter
------------------------------------------
A) Remove the Arcade 1up connectors from the back of the
monitor, the only connector you need will go into the
video adapter.

B) Plug in power to the adapter

C) Plug in HDMI cable from Plug n play

D) Adjust video

E) Plug in audio cable for sound into adapter

F) Power up Plug and play
====================================

Close up back of the cabinet.

At this point you can use the wireless controller.

I have plugged in a USB joystick.

Additional
==================
At some point you can get a USB adapter mounted into
the control panel, and add all the buttons also.

Here's a video of gameplay of all the games included:

Seems too short with that riser - they should have made a custom height riser like they did for Star Wars to make it slightly taller.  Also, for at least this cabinet, upgrade to a 19" monitor.  Yes, it would have been a 1 off, but worth it I think to go the larger size.

I am terrible at Pac-Man, I can barely get to pear. Not much better at Ms. Pacman. That being said, turbo mode is for losers. :)

well, i got used to the turbo after the normal version couldn't be found,

and poured money into that. i liked it because i could last a lot longer,

and eventually after a few hours,  could hit the killscreen.

now, i'm playing the 'normal' version, and yes, its way more challenging.

however, if you played the turbo version only in the arcade, thats what you would be used to.

year end discussion:

Interesting talk:

============

1 Supposedly dragons lair will be a more accurate looking version, same with the cab

2 still talking about an upcoming pro or ferrari cabinet

3 fixed patches coming to the partycades also (ms pac man)

4 at least 4-5 new cabinets at CES

5 more multigame cabinets coming out

6 most likely SF2 coming with online play

a lot more pinball talk coming
