well good, obviously Atgames Legends is the machine you and everyone should be buying, because

it suits all your needs, and doesn't have any issues.

i signed an NDA for the quality assurance, so i cant really say much more about it, other than i'm in it,

along with about 50 plus more people.

Nope, moved onto iiRcade thanks.  But I am starting to appreciate some of what AtGames is doing with some of their products.

There are just so many great options right now; I follow A1Up in a few places, and some of these home arcades are really a sight to behold.

On the other hand, for those of us who are space-limited, iiRcade and AtGames Legends are good choices, or the option of going with RecRoom Masters / ArcadeOne or similar is another fantastic way to go.

I am pretty stuck and have been for months.  I got a cheap Etsy arcade cab that fits my space nicely, but the iPac stick and buttons are super weak sauce.  Speaker placement is great, lit marquee, tv is actually really good (32")...but I'm longing for my Tankstick after beating up these buttons / cheap joysticks.  Not that the Tankstick is the end all, but it's MUCH better than the low end stuff.  And the SO is all over my case for not spending a bunch more money that could be used on the house; adulting sucks, and sucks it hard.  :P

Back to A1up, Tron could be amazing if they hit a home run with it like they did Star Wars (and chances are Disney will MAKE them do it right heh); hoping for not just a lit marquee but a light up flightstick like the arcade, and great sound.  And the licensing they've been able to procure is really fantastic.  Whether their stuff is top quality for hard core gamers is is not even in dispute, but neither is their ability to make some pretty neat stuff that makes most of the "mass audience" happy and lights up "Gamer-Caves" everywhere.  I hope they do a few more runs like the special edition Marvel cab that had IIRC real Sanwa sticks and buttons (or maybe it was Happ, which I would prefer), and that way make steps to appears those of us here as well as the masses who don't care too much, so long as the stuff doesn't break and gets the basic job done.

That's...interesting, reminds me of something Micro Center might sell.  I'm not up on projectors is 2250 lumens only good for playing in the dark?

It's been done many times before, but never with such cheap parts. I think many people will be disappointed with the quality of that projector.

Yeah, that's my concern - if that projector doesn't work in daytime lighting what's the point?  The whole video is in the dark.

It's rare to have perfectly dark conditions. A cheap projector is understandable at the price point (and for the content), but it's not going to be an ideal experience except under super-specific circumstances that few people will meet.

Who plays video games with the lights on?  Oh wait, lots of people.  But let's make something you can only play with the lights off.  Brilliant.  Surprised this doesn't shoot out lasers so I can decorate my house on holidays...

Yup. In addition to an at least darkened room, a big part of the image quality will be having a decent surface to throw the image onto. But at least they are thinking outside the box to some degree. You say you've seen it done many times before, and I trust you to know...who did a home projector video game unit like this?

Hope the base is stable. Otherwise your control inputs will be giving your image the shakes. Although very few people play in the exaggerated manner of the actors in the video...EDIT: looks like you can remove that little stand and place it separately. Good thinking. Watch out for that cord though.

Big thing with projectors too is fan noise...the cheaper the projector, the more likely it is to sound like a p-47 taking off.

I remember the Dream Arcades ones being nice, but it hasn't been an especially popular category for obvious reasons so I don't think there are too many active ones anymore. Pedestals are fairly common these days too (there's a good one for the Legends Gamer Pro for instance), so I don't see them messing up the design of that in terms of stability, but of course you never know until it's out in the wild.

My biggest concern with the product is not really anything but the projector itself (the other stuff is what it is, per usual). It's way too dim. Even relatively low end projectors have much brighter output than what they're stating here. I just don't understand that, especially if they want to sell add-on control panel/games for the thing. I would think they'd want to build around the projector rather than have the projector be a cheap toss-in essentially.

And if they had sourced a decent or even good one...you could sell this thing as a "movie night" unit as well. Maybe build a popcorn machine into the side. LOL.

My experience with projectors says all but the very best need an environment made for them--For a normal sized room with controlled light and a decent projection surface, I think 2250 is actually plenty for what this needs to do....keep in mind while the blacks may suck, we aren't talking about complex colors, gradients, or images. Now, add in any ambient light....

the vast majority of pictures showing mancaves and gamerooms, are darkly lit room,

with neon lights, or minimal lighting. go figure.

this is meant as a portable machine also, and the unit can be plugged in via HDMI to a TV set,

so it has multiple funtions.

good luck doing that with carting multiple cabs around. its for specific situations, and not just to put in a brightly lit room.

The projector cab isn't for me, but my neighbor across the street will be a candidate.  He has his kids out in the yard watching movies projected up against the house well before sundown.  And often watches football games out there with his buddies projected against his house too.

I agree with the questions on this (I would personally hate its results as a projector), but think there's definitely a market for it.

With the Space Invaders/Pac Man wall sized units you see in arcades and even casinos these days I think the Projector idea has some legs to it.  Question will be how sturdy the platform is - my guess is it isnt heavy enough to provide good stability for people outdoors banging on it.

Are you sure? This is supposed to have 6000 lumens while the Arcade1Up does 2250 (at least that's what someone posted earlier).

But just look how excited everyone is, even thought the player is still on the first level!

If the player was past about the 5th level, they would be going it alone while the other people at the party would have long since returned to their fascinating discussions of home improvements and health insurance.

What bugs me about that SF2 Projectorcade is it looks like it keeps the same control deck width as the A1U cabs. Given how cramped the cabs are with two players side-by-side, you'd think A1U would expand the width equal to a full-size cabinet.
