EASmith's EASY 68K games

I know this is not 2600 related , but I thought I would share anyway since no one else I know cares and many of you are assembly programmers/game lovers.

I made these games a few years back as my first dive into video games.

I used a Motorola 68000 emulator , since I had taken an assembly course based on this processor in 1995.

I understand that Atari's FoodFight , and SNK Neo Geo, and some Sega consoles used this processor ( I think).

i also think that this processor was used in Atari Jaguar ??.

At any rate, no one in my "real life" cares at all about this stuff, so I thought perhaps you guys might as video game enthusiasts and programmers!

There is a defender inspired game, a Pacman inspired game , and a space shooter all run from 1 menu.

I thought I would try again to see if anyone but me can get some enjoyment out of these games.

These were my first stab at video game programming ....

1. download the .exe file in previous post and install it    ( Windows PC) .

2. download the .zip file  ,  extract all.

In the unzipped folder , click on the S record file (  .S68).

You read brief instructions for each game at the top of this file.

This will upload the machine code .  Click on the Run Arrow ( F9) .

The game should load .    I hope someone could tell me if this works......

  Insert Coin is Keyboard 3

  Game Start is Keyboard 1

  For Alien Invasion:

space is fire , down is Shield

  For Protector:

Controls are set to Tankstick mode  ( I have an X arcade tankstick) .   So fire with keyboard  ( D F G and R )

Note :  the graphical display window is a little small ( I  did not realize until after I was done that I could have changed this setting  :(   , but all of the coordinates are based on the smaller output      )

But if you have a monitor or TV with a Zoom setting that will work for Zoom.

The sound effects rely on DIRECT X   ( I think ) so to get the full sounds I think you need this)

Seems like I should probably have initially posted this to HomeBrew Discussion  --doesn't really fit here ( night not even fit there ) . Is there anyway to move a topic to another forum?

I am fine with it here just don't want to have bad etiquette.

Nice Defender port! Very cool you program for the 68000, you would probably like the 6809 too.

thanks . This was my first stab at video game programming .   I had recently learned that some arcade games used 68000, and I happened to still have my 68000 textbook from 90s.  I looked for a compiler and was surprised to find one.  Turns out that the graphic output window size can be adjusted to be larger , but I did not know until I was done :(

So the way I normally played was to hdmi to TV and expand the picture .
