Altirra running basic too fast?

Recommended Posts

I have been playing around with some of my games written in Atari Basic and when run with the Altirra emulator they are running a bit faster than on my Atari 800 computer. The speed option is set to default. Is this normal or is there another adjustment I need to make? Not used the Altirra emulator before this.

If you want Altirra to run at normal speed you should get the Basic.roms that are available all over the place with a google search, just place then in a folder and in system / configute system / firmware, go to the firmware manager and scan that folder, if the correct crc it will pick them up. The in configure system / firmware pick what basic you like.

And yes, Averys internal BASIC is optimised and runs much faster than the normal Basic..

Oh one extra thing, I recommend getting the latest beta of Altirra from the Altirra thread here, Avery's beta are feature packed and very very stable, always worth running them to get all the added goodness he does.

For extra compatibility its also worth getting the OS roms as well, Avery's internal OS replacement is great but there's some badly written stuff that needs the real OS.

Paul.

Last edit: Check out in configure system the devices tab, there's a treasure trove of additional devices emulated...Oh and enjoy the PM...

Thanks. I thought I had done that but now I made the Atari Basic rom default and it worked.
