no rarity guide?

Recommended Posts

still new to the 8-bits and was wondering if there is a reason that there is no rarity guide for them on the site?
Is it because each of the systems would have its own page and that's too complicated?
not enough information?
not being rude, just curious

Atarimania has a software rarity guide and use ebay as a rarity guide, if its not for sale its rare....1200XL's are becoming rare, 1400's almost extinct I believe..

Too complicated. There are many rarity guides out there, but most are limited to discrete media formats (ie. cartridges). The A8 had a long commercial life, and has now generated nearly four decades' worth of software, so you can appreciate that accurately collating all of this stuff is a nightmare. Hardware rarity lists are probably more doable, but there are still many variants and oddities that make cataloguing difficult, and probably not enough demand at a collector level to make it worth while.

Atarimania is a great source for rarity information. All rarities are for boxed items though.

There are several other useful rarity guides. Digital Press has one of them, and there are a few others out on the net.

Chris Lynn also has a list that I believe has rarity information too. He posts it in a thread here on AtariAge.
