Spector
I was wondering this due to the cost of buying the original overlays. How neccesary are they? What games need them to be playable? Do some people use general overlays that have two colours on them, like the ones sold (I think) by someone else on this forum? Tell me how you play the Vectrex Edited March 26, 2018 by Spector
fiddlepaddle
I have the overlays for most of the games, but don't use them really. A few games, though, are especially enhanced, like Armor Attack, in my opinion.
4300
They're not needed, but they do add a level of fun to the game.
Bill Loguidice
They're not technically needed, but I do find it more comfortable to play with an overlay since it minimizes some of the brightness of the vectors.
VectorGamer
If I don't have an overlay for the game I just use the one included with Vector Pilot. Looks great for most games.
BassGuitari
I have a Sean Kelly Multicart but only one overlay. So mostly I just play without overlays.
redrumh2o
I bought a psych overlay and I can't not play with it. I play it with every game and never swap it. It's awesome!
TrekMD
You don't really need the overlays to enjoy the games. They are something nice to have.
SiLic0ne t0aD
Ditto for Vector Pilot as a universal overlay. I also use Scramble & Minestorm a lot too and those pretty much cover all the bases.

What overlay are you talking about specifically? I've seen a few on sale by someone on this forum, and I'm just wondering if you got it from him. Seob
Luckily i have overlays for all my vectrex games, and i really like them. Like others say, you dont really need them in order to play a game, but they just make the game look more compleet. Also they have labels for the buttons, so you know what firebuttons do. I really like that.
