ApolloBoy #1 Posted June 1, 2003 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...0&category=3537 The keyboard doesn't look mint to me because the keys are all yellowed.
Room 34 #2 Posted June 1, 2003 I guess it depends what you mean by "mint." But seriously... I think the seller meant there's no scuffing or other type of damage to the system. The keys are made of a different kind of plastic than the case. I know that kind of plastic tends to yellow with age -- not necessarily with use. So even if it was still sealed in the box the keys might be yellow by now... it doesn't necessarily mean Aunt Helga with her 4-pack-a-day habit has been exhaling on it all this time. But if the box is smashed up, I would as a seller probably avoid throwing the word "mint" around, even if the console is perfect...
sku_u #3 Posted June 1, 2003 Mint or not, that's really cheap for that lot.
Joey Kay #4 Posted June 2, 2003 I was eyeing up that auction, too. I wouldn't mind an XEGS in the box with manuals, but there were none, so I didn't bid. I hate to criticize the seller, I'm sure he or she is a fine person, however, I kind of feel the "mint" was misleading because the manuals are long gone for the system. I consider "mint" to mean... well... "mint". Perhaps I'm just getting crusty and picky in my golden years! Cheers! Joey
FND #5 Posted June 2, 2003 Well if MINT stands for "Mangled IN Trash" the box falls in that category FND
surfnmadness #6 Posted June 2, 2003 Looks more like it came from home with chain smoker. I tend to just ignore the MINT, RARE and ORIGINIAL SHRINKWRAPPED. Most of the time it is posted with a sell of missle command, asteroids or one of the 5+ million ET cartridges. (opps, forgot Atari destroyed about 1-2 mill of ET.) Guess that makes it rare at 3+ million made. sURFN
rpmxxipt #7 Posted June 2, 2003 That IS a great price for all that stuff though.. considering I bought TWO systems recently for nearly double that, I'll indulge the seller in their flights of fancy if I coulda got 'em for that price. -rpm-
Ralph3 #8 Posted June 2, 2003 I have a SNES where the top portion of the case yellowed and the bottom stayed the normal grey color. And it was packed away in a closet for a few years. And I don't smoke. Really weird looking. Has to be 2 totally different plastics used in manufacturing.

I don't know what the production date cutoff was on the system you're talking about, but the two I currently have look minty fresh, and for years I DID smoke, as well as have these things in direct sunlight. Go figure. -rpm-
